L.R. Hill Sports Complex
The L.R. Hill Sports Complex is an athletic building on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Construction started in August 2007 and the building opened on September 13, 2008. Built by S.B. Ballard, who has constructed many buildings at ODU including Chartway Arena and the University Village Apartments. Description The L.R. Hill Sports Complex is a building that houses Old Dominion Football, Women's Lacrosse, and Women's Field Hockey. The facility cost $17 Million to build. Chartway Arena at the Ted Constant Convocation Center is a , multi-purpose arena in Norfolk, Virginia, United States, on the campus of Old Dominion University. It is operated by Spectra Venue Management. Chartway Arena is part of the University Village project, a development that features a shopping center that includes restaurants, offices, research labs and residences with connections to the campus. American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The Old Dominion Monarchs field hockey team represent Old Dominion University in the Big East Conference of NCAA Division I field hockey. History The Old Dominion field hockey program initiated as the Norfolk Division Braves of the College of William & Mary in 1930, competing with local high school clubs and trade schools prior to its independence.
