TVA (Canadian TV Network)
TVA (also styled as T\:\) is a Canadian French-language terrestrial television network founded in 1963 and owned by Groupe TVA, a publicly traded subsidiary of Quebecor Media. Headquartered in Montreal, the network only has terrestrial stations in Quebec. However, parts of New Brunswick and Ontario are within the broadcast ranges of TVA stations, and two TVA stations operate rebroadcasters in New Brunswick. Since becoming a national network in 1998, it has been available on cable television across Canada. TVA is short for Téléviseurs associés (roughly translated to "Associated Telecasters"). An Indian summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in autumn in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Several sources describe a true Indian summer as not occurring until after the first frost, or more specifically the first " killing frost". Etymology The late 19th-century lexicographer Albert Matthews made an exhaustive search of early American literature in an attempt to discover who coined the expression. The earliest reference he found dated to 1851. He also found the phrase in a letter written in England in 1778, but discounted that as a coincidental use of the phrase. Michel Drucker
Michel Drucker, CQ (born 12 September 1942) is a popular French journalist and TV host. He has been on screen for so long on various shows and different networks, both public and private, that he once said that some people joked that he was included in the price of their TV sets. Career Drucker was born in Vire. He started a journalistic career in 1965 at the ORTF as sports reporter and commentator. Although he kept doing live coverage of major association football matches until 1986, he soon turned to hosting variety shows, such as ''Champs-Élysées'' on Antenne 2 in the 1980s, then '' Stars 90'' on TF1 in the 1990s, then finally '' Vivement dimanche'' on France 2 every Sunday afternoon since 1998. Julie Snyder (born 6 August, 1967) is a Francophone Canadian talk show host and producer, appearing as host or guest on various television programs in Canada and France. She graduated from Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in 1986. Snyder is also the CEO of Productions J, a company that she founded in 1997, which produces television shows such as '' Occupation Double'' ( TVA, 2003–present). Programs that Snyder participated in include ''Star Académie'', ''L'enfer c'est nous autres'', ''Sortir'', and ''Le poing J''. Snyder made her first television appearance in 1983. TV5Monde (), formerly known as TV5, is a French public television network, broadcasting several channels of French-language programming. It is an approved participant member of the European Broadcasting Union. The network is available across Europe on satellite via Astra 19.2°E and Eutelsat Hot Bird (13°E) (both free-to-air), online and via TVPlayer. Summary TV5 started on 2 January 1984 and was under the management of Serge Adda until his death in November 2004. The next director from 6 April 2005 was Jean-Jacques Aillagon, a former French Minister for Culture and Communication. The director-general is now Marie-Christine Saragosse.
