L'Isle-Adam () is a commune in the Val-d'Oise department in Île-de-France in northern France. The small town beside the river Oise has a long sandy beach and attracts visitors from Paris. Geography L'Isle-Adam is a commune and town in north central Val-d'Oise. It is located on the left bank of the River Oise immediately opposite the town of Parmain which is on the right bank, about northwest of Paris, north of Pontoise and south of Beauvais. It is on the northern fringe of the urban area of Paris, near the Regional Natural Park of French Vexin. The Oise borders the town on its north and west sides, and the town is partially built on three islands, the Ile du Prieuré, the Ile de la Cohue and the Ile de la Dérivation, by which there is a dam and lock. Château De L'Isle-Adam
The Château de L'Isle-Adam, now destroyed, could be found in the town of L'Isle-Adam in the department of Val-d'Oise; it was built on an island called the ''Île du Prieuré'' The building was connected with many illustrious families; the Lords of Adams, the Dukes of Villiers, the Dukes of Montmorency, the Princes of Condé and finally the Princes of Conti. It was under the Princes of Conti that the building had its golden age. They lived there for seven generations and it was their principal residence outside Paris. Their Parisian home was the Hôtel de Conti. It was entirely destroyed by the 19th century. Aimée Antoinette Camus
Aimée Antoinette Camus (1 May 1879 – 17 April 1965) was a French botanist. She was best known for her study of orchids and oaks. Camus also has the legacy of authoring the second highest number of land plant species among female scientists, in total naming 677 species. Camus was the daughter of Edmond Gustave Camus, also a botanist, and was born in L'Isle-Adam, about 50 kilometres north of Paris. Under her father's influence she specialized in the study of orchids and the anatomy of the plant and worked for some time with other professionals such as Paul Bergon (1863-1912) and Paul Henri Lecomte (1856-1934). Her sister was the painter Blanche-Augustine Camus (1881-1968). She also produced a major treatment of the oaks and stone oaks, providing the first comprehensive systematic treatment of the latter genus. Charles-François Daubigny ( , , ; 15 February 181719 February 1878) was a French painter, one of the members of the Barbizon school, and is considered an important precursor of impressionism. He was also a prolific printmaker, mostly in etching but also as one of the main artists to use the cliché verre technique.
