L'Art De Vivre
__NOTOC__ The ''L'Art de Vivre'' (''The Art of Living'') was built in 1917 in Deptford, England, as a cargo barge but currently serves as a luxury hotel barge owned and operated by European Waterways. She is one of around 60 hotel barges operating on European waterways, mostly on the smaller French canals. History Originally christened as ''Marie Brizzard'', her purpose was to ferry ammunition to the beaches of Normandy to help the Allies fighting in the Somme. She was built particularly strong to resist the English Channel's harsh weather conditions and groundings on a Normandy beach. After the end of World War II, she was moved round the north and west coasts of France and into the River Charente estuary to Rochefort. Here, she delivered barrels of cognac from Angoulême to Rochefort. She was renamed ''Cognac'', ''Royal Cognac'', ''Napoleon'', ''Mark Twain'', ''Magellan'', and ''Kir Royal''. Canal Du Nivernais
The Canal du Nivernais links the Loire with the Seine, following approximately the course of the river Yonne in a south to north direction. It first climbs northeast and north to cross the Morvan watershed, then roughly follows the course of the Yonne. Beginning on the Loire in the village of Saint-Léger-des-Vignes, it reaches its half-way point at the town of Clamecy and finishes at Auxerre on the Yonne. The canal is long and has 112 locks. It is fed at its summit at Port Brûlé by a feeder canal from the Lac de Pannecière reservoir, including an elegant aqueduct at Montreuillon. In its northerly course it is regularly fed by the Yonne and on the southern slope by the Aron. The summit level pound also comprises three tunnels. River Charente
The Charente (; oc, Charanta ) is a long river in southwestern France. Its source is in the Haute-Vienne ''département'' at Chéronnac, a small village near Rochechouart.
