Background Following ''The First Days of Spring'' (2009), the band's original drummer, Doug Fink, left to complete his medical training. The group's new addition, Michael Petulla, was found via online classified Gumtree. Bassist Matt Owens and guitarist Fred Abbott auditioned upwards of 100 drummers and eventually narrowed it down to 10, from which point the band rehearsed with each to see which was the best fit. Noah And The Whale
Noah and the Whale were a British indie rock and folk band from Twickenham, formed in 2006. The band's last line-up consisted of Charlie Fink (vocals, guitar), Tom Hobden (violin/keyboards), Matt "Urby Whale" Owens (bass guitar), Fred Abbott (guitar/ keys) and Michael Petulla (drums). Doug Fink (drums), the brother of lead singer Charlie, and Laura Marling (backing vocals) were also past members of the band. The sixth series of ''Dancing on Ice'' aired from 9 January to 27 March 2011 on ITV. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned as hosts whilst Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returned to mentor the celebrities.
