L'île du Sud (South Island, l'île Boisées) is an island located in the Cargados Carajos shoals, a group of outer islands of Mauritius, one of thirteen islands of St. Brandon, held under permanent lease since 1901 and under Permanent Grant since 2008 by the Raphael Fishing Company. L'île du Sud is currently one of two island headquarters of Raphael Fishing Company, a centenarian company, whose employees and fishermen carry out sustainable fishing through Handline fishing and catch-and-release Sports Fishing. Intense Tropical Cyclone Dina was a cyclone that caused record flooding across parts of Réunion. Originating from a tropical disturbance on 15 January 2002 near the Chagos Archipelago, the precursor to Dina quickly developed within a region favoring tropical cyclogenesis. By January 17, the system had developed enough organized convection as it moved southwestward to be declared a tropical depression. Joan Wulff
Joan Salvato Wulff (born 1926) is a fly fisher, author and educator, also known as the "First Lady of Fly Fishing." In 1951, she won the national fly-casting distance title by winning the all-male competition and was a National Casting Champion from 1943-1960. She started the Wulff School of Fly Fishing along with her husband, Lee Wulff, in 1978, along the Beaverkill River in New York. Casting (fishing)
In angling, casting is the act of the angler throwing the bait and hook (or a lure) out over the water, typically by slinging a fishing line manipulated by a long, elastic fishing rod. The term itself may also be used for setting out a net when artisanal fishing. The usual technique is to quickly flick/swing the rod forward towards the water, with the inertia of the terminal tackles lagging and bending the rod backward (i.e. "loading" the rod), and then use the "springing" (elastic rebound) of the rod to "whip" and rapidly sling the line forward, which in turn will hurl out the hook. There are several methods anglers use to attempt to cast farther, the most prominent of which is the shifting of body weight towards the front foot in synchrony to the forward swinging of the rod.
