Woodward L'Orange GmbH is a German engineering manufacturing company headquartered in Stuttgart. It is one of the leading manufacturers of injection systems for large diesel engines worldwide. It developed and produced the first common-rail system for large diesel engines. Woodward L'Orange is a supplier to engine builders and has been part of Woodward since 2018. Previously the L'Orange GmbH belonged to the Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG. "L'Orange" is a 1964 song recorded by French singer and songwriter Gilbert Bécaud. It was covered in 2003 by the contestants of the French third version of the TV reality show Star Academy, and achieved a great success in France and Belgium (Wallonia), where it topped the chart for several weeks. As of August 2014, the song was the 20th best-selling single of the 21st century in France, with 560,000 units sold. Hans Peter L'orange (officer)
Hans Peter L'orange (8 September 1835 – 1907) was a Norwegian military officer. He was the Commanding General in Norway from 1897 to 1903. Personal life He was born in Herøy as a son of Peter Vilhelm L'orange (1806–1871) and Ingeborg Bue. He was a first cousin of Georg Fredrik Lorange and a second cousin of Anders Lorange. In November 1863 in Bergen he married Alvilde Rosalie Christiane Koren (1841–1929), a daughter of Johan Koren (1809–1885). He was the father of Major General Hans Wilhelm L'Orange (1868–1950) and Colonel Johan Ingolf Koren L'orange (1873–1949), and through the former a grandfather of archaeologist and art historian Hans Peter L'Orange. Career He attended the Norwegian Military Academy until 1856 and from April to September 1857. He had reached the rank of premier lieutenant in 1857, and attended the Norwegian Military College before he was a brigade aide-de-camp in Bergen and from 1864 an apprentice in the General Staff. Hans Peter L'Orange (2 March 1903 – 5 December 1983) was a Norwegian art historian and classical archaeologist. Biography L'Orange was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was a son of Major General Hans Wilhelm L'Orange (1868–1950) and Ginni Gulbranson (1879–1949). His family had its origin from among the French Huguenots. He was a paternal grandson of military officer Hans Peter L'Orange (1835–1907), maternal grandson of businessowner Carl August Gulbranson (1831–1910) and brother-in-law of journalist and writer, Gunnar Larsen (1900–1958). From 1930 to 1936 he was a university fellow resident in Rome. He studied art history at the University of Munich. Prosper L'Orange
Prosper L'Orange (born 1 February 1876, Beirut; died 30 July 1939, Stuttgart) was a German engineer and inventor who pioneered the precombustion chamber (or prechamber), which made possible high-speed diesel engines that did not require an air compressor, and enabled them to be built small enough for use in road vehicles. Career L'Orange moved to Germany and studied engineering at the Technical University of Berlin in Charlottenburg, Berlin. After his studies he worked for Gasmotoren-Fabrik Deutz AG as a research engineer from 1904, and from 1906 as research director. In October 1908, L'Orange moved from Deutz to Benz & Cie. in Mannheim, where he became head of Stationary Engine Construction. From 1912, on he was also a member of the Board of Directors.
