Kyrkjebygda or Kyrkjebygdi is the administrative centre of Åseral municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on a small flat plain in a valley at the northern end of the lake Øre at the confluence of the rivers Logna and Monn. The Monn river valley heads north-northwest to the village of Ljosland and the Logna river valley heads north-northeast to the villages of Åknes and Bortelid. Southern Norway
Southern Norway ( no, Sørlandet; lit. "The Southland") is the geographical region (''landsdel'') along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. Åseral Church ( no, Åseral kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Åseral Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kyrkjebygda. It is one of the churches for the Åseral parish which is part of the Otredal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1822 using plans drawn up by the architects Olav Aasland and Olav Bakken. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1328, but it was not new that year. The old church may have been a stave church that was possibly built in the 13th century. Historically, the church was named ''Aabø'' after the farm on which it was located (the more modern spelling of that in Norwegian would be ''Åbø''). Ljosland

Bortelid
Bortelid is a village in Ã…seral municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the west side of the lake Juvatn in the northeastern part of the municipality. The mountainous areas of Bortelid is part of Setesdalsheiene mountains, and it contains one of the southernmost ski resorts in Norway (one of three ski centres in Ã…seral). The area is also full of holiday cottages—over 1000 cottages and apartments. Historically, Bortelid was a remote valley that was used for some small dairy farming operations, but today the economy centres around tourism and the outdoor recreation at the ski centre.
