Southern Downs is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in 2001 as a replacement for Warwick. The district takes in the southern parts of the Darling Downs region along the New South Wales border. Sugarloaf is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Sugarloaf had a population of 113 people. Sugarloaf is on the border with New South Wales. Geography The locality is bounded to the north and east by the Great Dividing Range which also marks the border with New South Wales. Sugarloaf Mountain () is on the eastern boundary as part of the Great Dividing Range; it rises to above sea level. A number of creeks rise on the slopes of the Great Dividing Range and flow in a general south-west direction becoming directly or indirectly tributaries to Quart Pot Creek. The land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation with some plantation forestry and irrigated cropping.
