Kyneton Football Club
The Kyneton Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Kyneton, Victoria. Kyneton teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League. The football squad has played there since 1932. History It has been said that Kyneton was the Victorian town where the first organised regional football match was contested, although other records indicate that a game was played at Castlemaine in June 1859. The first match in Kyneton was held in the early 1860s, with 84 players (42 by side) on the field. Jim Buckley (footballer)
Jim Buckley (born 27 November 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Buckley is 175 cm tall and came from Kyneton. Buckley debuted with the Carlton Football Club in 1976 and won the Robert Reynolds Trophy, Carlton's best and fairest award, in 1982. He was a premiership player in 1979, 1981 and 1982. In total, Buckley played 164 games for 146 goals between 1976 and 1990. On 21 June 1983, when he was 23 years old, Buckley collided with a taxi, killing one of the occupants—passenger Peter Cunningham, a 42-year-old bookmaker's clerk—and injuring others. In April 1984, Buckley was acquitted of all charges despite recording a 0.18 blood alcohol content reading, more than double the legal limit at the time (and more than 3.5 times the current limit of 0.05). The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale, Victoria, Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. Rhys Magin
Rhys Magin (born 4 March 1989) is an Australian rules football player who was on the rookie list in 2008 and 2009 for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League. He played junior football primarily in a half-forward flank position however it is noted he can play in both a forward and defensive role. He represented Queensland at the 2007 Under-18 Championships. Prior to round 16 Magin was elevated off the rookie list to replace the injured Jason Winderlich Magin made his AFL debut in round 19 against West Coast Eagles. Magin was delisted at the end of 2009. Nathan Thompson (Australian Footballer)
Nathan Thompson (born 14 February 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer, who previously played with the Hawthorn and clubs in the Australian Football League. He has been a previous panellist on the Sunday Footy Show. Early career Thompson originated from the Kyneton and was invited to train with as an 18 year old. He spent 1997 playing with Hawthorns reserve grade team that accumulated with a reserve grand final appearance. He was one of Hawthorns best that day in a losing side.
