Kvitretten
Kvitretten (1991-2001 in Trondheim, Norway) was a Norwegian vocal group, known for improvisation and a cappella music releases, concerts, television shows, and international tours. Biography Kvitretten was initially comprising arranger and composer Eldbjørg Raknes, Kjersti Stubø (91-97), Tone Åse, Anna Sundström (91-94) and Hans Jørgen Støp (91-95). They were to be found at the festival «Nordlyd» 1993 with the commissioned work ''Ro u ro'' by Elin Rosseland, composer supported by Rikskonsertene. After some replacements, Raknes, Stubø, Åse and Kristin Asbjørnsen released the debut albumet ''Voices'' (1996) with lyrics by Raknes and Sidsel Endresen. They collaborated on the commissioned work ''Hysj'' by Lars Martin Myhre for «Vestfoldspillene» 1997, with a record released 1997, as well as on ''Vintersang'' (1998) by Odd Børretzen, and received Norsk Kulturråd's ensemble support 1997-99. Tone Åse
Tone Åse (born 24 February 1965 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian singer, known from Norwegian choirs and jazz scenes. She is married to, and musically cooperating with jazz keyboardist Ståle Storløkken. Career After completing teacher education, she studied classical vocals at the Trondheim Musikkonservatorium and Tromsø Musikkonservatorium, and got a master's degree on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2007), where she is still working as an assistant professor. Kristin Asbjørnsen
Kristin Asbjørnsen (born 12 May 1971) is a Norwegian jazz singer and composer whose focus is on improvised music. She is known for musical projects like Dadafon including with Carl Haakon Waadeland, Krøyt, Kvitretten, and Nymark Collective among others. Career Asbjørnsen was born in Lillehammer and educated at the Jazz Program at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music, Norwegian Academy of Music and the University of Oslo, (in Norwegian) (in Norwegian) Her style has its roots in the singer-songwriter tradition and includes elements from African music, World music, spirituals and jazz. Curling Legs
__NOTOC__ Curling Legs Productions A/S (established 1992 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label with a catalogue encompassing all styles of jazz and improvised music. It was started by Knut Værnes and Morten Halle to release their own music. In 1994, Odin Records was licensed to Curling Legs from the Norwegian Jazz Forum, to continue the production of Norwegian jazz. In addition to Værnes and Halle, the third co-owner of Curling Legs is Helge Westbye, the director of the record label Grappa Music, and the label is part of FONO. The music is distributed through the company Musikkoperatørene. By the time of their fiftieth issue, on 3 May 1999, Curling Legs had won Spellemannprisen four times. Solveig Slettahjell (born 2 April 1971 in Bærum, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz singer, known for her soulful, seductive voice. Career Slettahjell had her record debut with the album ''Slow Motion Orchestra'' (2003), contains jazz standards like "All the Way" and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy". It was released after festival appearance at Nattjazz 2002. For her second album, ''Silver'' (2004), her band took the name "Slow Motion Quintet". In 2005, they released ''Pixiedust''. Eldbjørg Raknes (born 9 February 1970 in Midsund, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz vocalist known for her a cappella vocal performances, innovative improvised vocals and electronic effects. She has collaborated with musicians such as Jon Balke, Anders Jormin, Bendik Hofseth, Christian Wallumrød, Arve Henriksen, Ketil Bjørnstad, and Ståle Storløkken. Kjersti Stubø
Kjersti Aasan Stubø (born 25 April 1970) is a Norwegian Jazz musician vocalist, daughter and musical successor of Jazz guitarist Thorgeir Stubø (1943–1986), mother of elektronica musician Mathias Stubø (b. 1992), and sister of Jazz guitarist Håvard and theatre director Eirik Stubø. Career Stubø was born in Narvik, and studied jazz on the Jazz program at the Trondheim Music Conservatory (1991–93). Aged 14 she performed with her father, Thorgeir, who died from cancer two years later. During her studies in Trondheim she established her own Jazz orchestra ''Kjersti Stubø Band'' in 1991. Lars Martin Myhre
Lars Martin Myhre (born 10 August 1956 in Tønsberg, Norway) (in Norwegian) is a Norwegian composer, guitarist, pianist, singer and producer residing in Sandefjord. He is best known for his collaboration with Odd Børretzen, (in Norwegian) but has for more than 30 years been involved in the musical life of Norway and has released a dozen albums, participated in or produced albums for other artists and composed film music, musicals and theater music. Vigleik Storaas
Vigleik Storaas (born 2 February 1963) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer, and the younger brother of composer and bassist Gaute Storaas. He is known from a series of album releases and collaborations with jazz musicians such as Norma Winstone, Karin Krog, Terje Rypdal, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Chet Baker, Jack DeJohnette and Warne Marsh. Career Storås was born in Bergen, and studied music at the U-Phils High School in Bergen before attending the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1982–84), what today is the Department of Music Technology (NTNU), where he was the leader of the Bodega Band (1990–1996), and is now Assistant Professor. Moldejazz
Molde International Jazz Festival (MIJF) or Moldejazz (established 1961 in Molde) takes place annually in July, and is known as one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe. It was initiated by the local Storyville Jazz Club. Since 1964 it has received government support, and the government Buddy Award was for several years awarded at this festival. To the extent Molde festival operates with records, is probably the bassist Bjørn Kjellemyr holder of "Most festivals in a row" musicians record. Jon Balke
Jon Georg Balke (born 7 June 1955) is a Norwegian jazz pianist who leads the Magnetic North Orchestra. He is the younger brother of saxophonist Erik Balke. Career Balke started playing classical piano but switched to blues at 12, though he performs within several genres. At the age of 18 he joined Arild Andersen's quartet. By the mid-1980s he worked on his own and would become one of Norway's leading jazz composers. He was active in the groups of Radka Toneff and in the Afrofusion group E'olén before joining Oslo 13 and Masqualero in the early 1980s.
