Kvam, Steinkjer
Kvam is a village in Steinkjer municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the northern shore of the lake Snåsavatnet along the European route E6 highway, about northeast of the village of Følling and about northeast of the Steinkjer (town), town of Steinkjer. The small village of Kvam lies directly on the lake shore and it has a school, store, senior living center, and Kvam Church. Farther north from the lake includes a wilderness area including the large lakes Gilten (lake), Gilten and Bangsjøan. The village was the administrative centre of the old Kvam, Nord-Trøndelag, municipality of Kvam which existed from 1909 until its dissolution in 1964. European Route E6
European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border. Route From south to north, E6 runs through Trelleborg, Malmö, Helsingborg, Halmstad, Gothenburg, Svinesund in Sweden, before crossing the border at the Svinesund Bridge into Norway. It then passes Halden, Sarpsborg, Moss to the capital Oslo. North of this, it passes by Gardermoen, Hamar, Lillehammer, Dombås, Oppdal, Melhus to Trondheim. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978. A total of four editions was published (the last one in 2004), before the online version was transferred to Institusjonen Fritt Ord og Sparebankstiftelsen DnB in 2011. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. Kvam, Nord-Trøndelag
Kvam is a former municipality in what was Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1909 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the areas north and west of the lake Snåsavatnet in what is now the municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre was the village of Kvam on the shore of the lake. Most of the population of Kvam municipality lived along the lake shore. Bangsjøan
Bangsjøan is a man-made lake on the borders of the municipalities of Snåsa, Grong, Overhalla, and Steinkjer in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lake lies about north of the lake Snåsavatnet and about northwest of the village of Snåsa (village), Snåsa. The lake was created by the building of a dam which cause the water level of three lakes to rise and flow together into one large lake. The dam is located on what is now the northwestern side of the lake. Originally, there were three lakes. The southwestern lake was called ''Ytter-Bangsjøen'', the middle lake was ''Midter-Bangsjøen'', and the northeastern lake was ''Øyster-Bangsjøen''. Today, the lakes flow together and the three old lake names are still used to refer to their respective areas in the large lake. The lake empties through a dam at the northwestern end and into the river Bongna. Gilten (lake)
Gilten is a lake in the municipality of Steinkjer (with a small part crossing into neighboring Namsos) in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lake lies in the northern part of Steinkjer, about northeast of the village of Kvam, about north of the village of Følling (and the European route E6 highway), and about east of the village of Namdalseid. The lake is only accessible by road from Namdalseid, even though most of the lake lies in Steinkjer. The lake Bangsjøan lies to the northeast and the lake Snåsavatnet lies to the south. Kvam Church
Kvam Church ( no, Kvam kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Steinkjer municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kvam, along the lake Snåsavatnet. It is the church for the Kvam parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1878 using plans drawn up by the architect Rasmus M. Overrein. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1533, but the church was not new that year. The first church at Kvam was likely a stave church that was built around the year 1200 on a site about northwest of the present church site. Steinkjer (town)
Steinkjer is the administrative centre of the municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county, Norway. The town is located at the northeastern end of the inner-most part of the Trondheimsfjorden, at the mouth of the river Steinkjerelva. In the eastern part of the town, the river of Figgja also flows into the fjord. The town is split in two by Steinkjerelva, creating the two traditional neighborhoods of Nordsia and Sørsia. Both the European route E6 highway and the Nordlandsbanen railway line run through the town, the latter serving the city at Steinkjer Station. Steinkjer Church and Egge Church are both located in the town. Snåsavatnet
Snåsavatnet (; en, Lake Snåsa) is Norway's sixth-largest lake. The lake is located in the municipalities of Steinkjer and Snåsa in Trøndelag county, Norway. The villages of Følling and Sunnan lie at the southwestern end of the lake and the village of Snåsa lies at the northeastern end of the lake. European route E6 runs along the northern shore of the lake and the Nordland Line runs along the southern shore. The lake is approximately long and on average about wide. The surface of the lake is only above sea level, and it reaches depths of up to . The lake was created by glacial erosion. As is seen on a map, the lake looks like an extension of the Trondheim Fjord.
