Gilten (lake)
Gilten is a lake in the municipality of Steinkjer (with a small part crossing into neighboring Namsos) in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lake lies in the northern part of Steinkjer, about northeast of the village of Kvam, about north of the village of Følling (and the European route E6 highway), and about east of the village of Namdalseid. The lake is only accessible by road from Namdalseid, even though most of the lake lies in Steinkjer. The lake Bangsjøan lies to the northeast and the lake Snåsavatnet lies to the south. Kvam is a village in Steinkjer municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the northern shore of the lake Snåsavatnet along the European route E6 highway, about northeast of the village of Følling and about northeast of the Steinkjer (town), town of Steinkjer. European Route E6
European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border. Bangsjøan
Bangsjøan is a man-made lake on the borders of the municipalities of Snåsa, Grong, Overhalla, and Steinkjer in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lake lies about north of the lake Snåsavatnet and about northwest of the village of Snåsa (village), Snåsa. The lake was created by the building of a dam which cause the water level of three lakes to rise and flow together into one large lake. The dam is located on what is now the northwestern side of the lake. Originally, there were three lakes. The southwestern lake was called ''Ytter-Bangsjøen'', the middle lake was ''Midter-Bangsjøen'', and the northeastern lake was ''Øyster-Bangsjøen''. Today, the lakes flow together and the three old lake names are still used to refer to their respective areas in the large lake. Snåsavatnet
Snåsavatnet (; en, Lake Snåsa) is Norway's sixth-largest lake. The lake is located in the municipalities of Steinkjer and Snåsa in Trøndelag county, Norway. The villages of Følling and Sunnan lie at the southwestern end of the lake and the village of Snåsa lies at the northeastern end of the lake. European route E6 runs along the northern shore of the lake and the Nordland Line runs along the southern shore. The lake is approximately long and on average about wide. The surface of the lake is only above sea level, and it reaches depths of up to . The lake was created by glacial erosion. As is seen on a map, the lake looks like an extension of the Trondheim Fjord. The outlet is the river Byaelva, which empties into the Beitstadfjorden (an arm of the Trondheim Fjord) in the city of Steinkjer.
