Kuusankosken Kumu
Kuusankosken Kumu was a football club established in 1964 from Kuusankoski, Finland. The club played one season in the Finnish premier division Veikkausliiga in 1990. Kumu was dissolved in 1992 due to financial problems and a new club FC Kumu was formed in 1993. FC Kumu merged with Pallo-Peikot in 1996 and the two clubs are known today as FC Kuusankoski. Kuusankoski is a neighbourhood of city of Kouvola, former industrial town and municipality of Finland, located in the region of Kymenlaakso in the province of Southern Finland. The population of Kuusankoski was 20,392 (2003) and the total area was 129.5 km² of which 114 km² was land and 14.56 km² water. It is located some northeast of the Finnish capital Helsinki. Veikkausliiga (; sv, Tipsligan) is the premier division of Finnish football, the highest tier of the Finnish football league structure, comprising the top 12 clubs of the country. Its main sponsor is the Finnish national betting agency Veikkaus, hence the league's name. Veikkausliiga was founded in 1990; before that the top division was called ''Mestaruussarja'' (championship series) since 1930 which was an amateur or semi-professional league. Between 1908 and 1930 the championship was decided as a knock-out cup competition. FC Kuusankoski is a football club from Kuusankoski, Kouvola in Finland. The club was formed in 1996 and their home ground is at the Kuusankosken urheilupuisto. The men's first team currently plays in the Kakkonen (Second Division). The head coach of FC Kuusankoski is Janne Pahkala. Background FC Kuusankoski was founded 24 October 1996 as a result of the merger of Voikkaan Pallo-Peikot and Kumu-Peikot Kuusankoski. This enabled the new club in 1997 to start in the Kakkonen. ''Ykkönen'' (Finnish for 'Number One'; sv, Ettan) is the second highest level of the Finnish football league system (after the Veikkausliiga), although it is the highest league managed by the Football Association of Finland. Kakkonen or II divisioona is the third level in the league system of Finnish football and comprises 36 Finnish football teams. The II divisioona was introduced in 1973 and in the mid-1990s became known as the Kakkonen (Finnish for 'Number Two'; sv, Tvåan). Sakari Tukiainen finished the season 2014 as the top goal scorer and setting a new league record with 40 goals for the Kakkonen. Kolmonen or III divisioona is the fourth level in the league system of Finnish football and comprises 104 Finnish football teams. The III divisioona was introduced in 1973 and in the mid-1990s became known as the Kolmonen (''Number Three'' in English and ''Trean'' in Swedish). The competition There are 104 clubs in the Kolmonen, divided in 9 groups of 10 to 12 teams each representing a geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents.
