Kurt Gouveia
Kurt Keola Gouveia (born September 14, 1964) is an American football coach and former linebacker who played 13 seasons in the National Football League and one season in the XFL. During his career, he played for the Washington Redskins (1986–1994; 1999), the Philadelphia Eagles (1995), and the San Diego Chargers (1996–1998). In 2001, he also played for the Las Vegas Outlaws in the now-defunct XFL. Playing career Gouveia played college football for Brigham Young University and was a member of their 1984 National Championship team. Gouveia was also a member of the Hawaii State Football Championship Team, Wai'anae High School, 1980. Gouvia played for BYU from 1983-1985, recording 224 tackles, 10 sacks, and 2 interceptions. He was selected by the Redskins in the eighth round of the 1986 NFL Draft. Gouveia sustained a knee injury in training camp as a rookie and did not play during the 1986 NFL season. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Super Bowl XXVI was an American football game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Washington Redskins and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Buffalo Bills to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1991 season. The Redskins defeated the Bills by a score of 37–24, becoming the fourth team after the Pittsburgh Steelers, the now Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers to win three Super Bowls. The Virginia Tech Hokies football team represents Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the sport of American football. The XFL is a professional American football minor league consisting of eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets served by at least one other major professional sports team. Seasons run from February to April, with each team playing a ten-game regular season, and four progressing to the playoffs to crown a season champion. It is headquartered in Arlington, Texas. The league was founded by former WWE executive Vince McMahon in 2018, as a reboot and successor to the league of the same name he founded in 2001. Thomas Raymond Mason (born September 22, 1956) is an American football coach and former player. He served as the interim head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) for the final 10 games of the 2014 season upon the resignation of June Jones, compiling a record of 1–9. Before that, he had been SMU's defensive coordinator since 2008. Mason also served as the interim head football coach at Boise State University for the first ten games of the 1996 season, compiling a record of 1–9.
