Kurt Birrenbach
Kurt Birrenbach (July 2, 1907 – December 26, 1987) was a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (Germany), Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and former member of the German Bundestag. Life Birrenbach joined the CDU in 1953. Birrenbach was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1976, where he was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee throughout. He was also a member of the European Parliament from 29 October 1959 to 29 November 1961. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag. The members of the Bundestag are representatives of the German people as a whole, are not bound by any orders or instructions and are only accountable to their electorate.
