Kupittaa Railway Station
Kupittaa railway station ( fi, Kupittaan rautatieasema, sv, Kuppis järnvägsstation) is located in the Kupittaa district of Turku, Finland. The station is located about three kilometres from the Turku Central railway station in the immediate vicinity of the Turku Science Park. All trains between Helsinki and Turku stop at Kupittaa. The station is part of the Turku traffic point, and traffic control is handled from Turku Central railway station. The station has bus connections to Turku internal lines 32, 42 and 58 and regional line 110. The old station building at Kupittaa dates back to 1914 and is located about a hundred metres to the northwest of the current station. The building was designed by John Stolpe. General information The hospital serves as the central hospital for southwestern Finland. Finnish National Road 1
The Finnish national road 1 ( fi, Valtatie 1 or fi, Ykköstie; sv, Riksväg 1) is the main route between the major cities of Helsinki and Turku in southern Finland. It runs from Munkkiniemi in Helsinki to the VI District of Turku, and is part of the European route E18. The road is a motorway for its whole length. The first portion of the motorway was constructed in the 1960s between central Helsinki and Kehä III, and extended to Lohjanharju in the 1970s. In the other end of the road, the motorway stretches from eastern Turku to Lahnajärvi near Suomusjärvi. In 2005, a portion of motorway between Lohjanharju and Lohja was opened. The last part of the motorway (Lahnajärvi–Lohjanharju) was opened on January 28, 2009. This part of motorway contains five tunnels totalling . Kaarina
Kaarina (; sv, S:t Karins, i.e. " Saint Catherine's") is a small town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southwest Finland region and is a neighbouring town of Turku, which is the capital of Southwest Finland, therefore Kaarina is a part of the Greater Turku region. It is located in the north-eastern part of the city, just outside the city centre and south of the river Aura. Turku Science Park
Turku Science Park is a community of businesses and educational establishments in the city of Turku, Finland. It focuses on development of the biotechnology and IT industries in southwestern Finland through cooperation of the different factors in the field. Its membership includes approximately 300 companies operating in Turku, including e.g. Nokia and Fujitsu. It also works in close partnership with Åbo Akademi University, University of Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences. The Science Park is located to the east of the city centre, mainly in the district of Kupittaa. Turku Central Railway Station
Turku Central Station (, ) is a railway station in the VII District of Turku, Finland. It has VR services to Helsinki and towards Joensuu (most terminate in Tampere or Pieksämäki). The station serves approximately a million passengers annually. The railway station was opened in 1876, together with the newly built railway between Turku and Tampere, in a celebration attended by the future Tsar Alexander III of Russia. Services were at first only to Tampere and Toijala, and the significance of railways was rather minor. In 1899, a new railway to Helsinki was opened, and subsequently rail traffic to and from Turku became more frequent. The older station was demolished in 1938, and a new, more modern, one was built in its place.
