"Kung Fu" is a song by American rapper YBN Cordae, released in July 2018. It is the lead single from YBN's only mixtape, ''YBN: The Mixtape'' (2018). Produced by Take a Daytrip, it is considered Cordae's breakout single. Critical reception The song received generally positive reviews from music critics. Alex Zidel of ''HotNewHipHop'' gave the song a "Very Hottttt" rating and wrote, "With seemingly unlimited potential, Cordae's 'Kung Fu' has the rapper exploring his flows and melodies, going hard on an original loop, produced by Day Trip. Cordae Amari Dunston (born August 26, 1997) known mononymously as Cordae (formerly YBN Cordae and Entendre), is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He gained popularity by releasing remixes of popular songs, such as "My Name Is" by Eminem, and "Old Niggas", which was a response to the song "1985" by J. Cole. Videos to both remixes were uploaded to WorldStarHipHop's YouTube channel, which led to an immense and immediate positive response from both mainstream media and the online rap community. Trap Music
Trap is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in the Southern United States during the 1990s. The genre gets its name from the Atlanta slang word "trap", a house used exclusively to sell drugs. Trap music uses synthesized drums and is characterized by complex hi-hat patterns, tuned kick drums with a long decay (originally from the Roland TR-808 drum machine), and lyrical content that often focuses on drug use and urban violence.
