Kumla Speedway
The Glottra Skog Arena or Sannaheds Motorstadion is a 15,000-capacity motorcycle speedway stadium, south of Kumla in Sweden. The Arena is the home venue of the speedway team called Indianerna who race in the Eliserien, which is the highest league in Swedish speedway. The primary 500c track measures 375 metres in circumference, while a smaller 80cc track is 175 metres. The stadium called the (Kumla Motorstadion) at the time, was built in 1946 and attracted 23,000 to the first meeting on 16 June 1946. The venue also staged ice racing speedway. Kumla
Kumla is a locality and the seat of Kumla Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden with a population of 21,640 as of 2018. Geography Kumla is situated roughly 15 kilometres south of neighbouring city Örebro, and is connected to its much larger neighbour with train and bus commuting. Kumla is unusual in terms of municipality seats in Svealand in that there is no connection to any kind of waterway in the centre of the town. However, three of the four biggest lakes in the country are within an hour's drive from the town. It is also an unusually flat town, since it is situated in the middle of the so-called Närke Plain. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. Indianerna
Indianerna (the Indians) are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Kumla, Sweden. The club's official name is Kumla MSK and it was founded in 1936 which makes the club one of the oldest motorsport clubs in Sweden. Indianerna was one of the seven teams that competed in Sweden's first speedway league in 1948. The team has won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship two times, in 1990 and 1991. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") ( sv, Elitserien i speedway) is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top 7 Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. The Continental Final was a Motorcycle speedway Final sanctioned by the FIM as the qualifying round for the Speedway World Championship between 1976 and 2000. From 1952-1975 it acted as the final qualifier for the Championship Round or European Final but from 1976-1990 it was upgraded in stature and acted as a final qualifier for the World Championship Final itself. 1953 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1953 Individual Speedway World Championship was the eighth edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. Welshman Freddie Williams became the second rider to win a second title in front of a 90,000 attendance at Wembley Stadium.
