Ksenia Sukhinova
Ksenia Vladimirovna Sukhinova (russian: Ксе́ния Влади́мировна Сухи́нова; born 26 August 1987) is a Russian model, television host and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 2008. She was the second Russian woman to be crowned Miss World, and had previously been crowned Miss Russia 2007. Personal life Sukhinova was born 1987 in Nizhnevartovsk, Russian SFSR. She was an only child. She lives in Moscow, Russia, and attends Tyumen State Oil and Gas University, studying cybernetic systems. Sukhinova's height is 1.78 m (5'10") and she has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her first name is often romanized Ksenya or Kseniya. Miss Russia 2007
Miss Russia 2007 was held on December 14, 2007, at Gostinom Yard, Moscow, Russia. Tatiana Kotova of Rostov-on-Don crowned her successor Ksenia Sukhinova of Tyumen as the new Miss Russia. Riyo Mori and Zhang Zilin participated in the event. Ksenia Sukhinova competed in the Miss World 2008 pageant, and was crowned the winner. Although she was not the winner of the national pageant, the Miss Russia organization decided to send the second runner-up, Vera Krasova, to the Miss Universe 2008 pageant held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where she made it to the top five finalists. Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Miss World 2008, the 58th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 13 December 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. She competed in the 2007 Miss Russia pageant on December 14 where she represented Moscow. Vera made it to the top-3 contestants and placed as the 1st runner-up to the eventual winner Ksenia Sukhinova. Miss Universe 2008 was the 57th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008. This was the first time that the Miss Universe pageant was broadcast in 1080i High-definition. At the end of the event, Riyo Mori of Japan crowned Dayana Mendoza as Miss Universe 2008. Miss Russia () is a national beauty pageant in Russia. It selects the Russian representatives to compete in two of the major beauty pageants: Miss World and Miss Universe.
