Alison Goring
Alison Goring (born November 15, 1963) is a Canadian curler. Career 1990–1997 Goring is a former Canadian champion skip, having won the 1990 Scott Tournament of Hearts. She was also a successful junior curler, having won the 1983 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Goring won her first provincial championship in 1990. Her Ontario rink would with that years' Scott Tournament of Hearts, defeating the Nova Scotia team, skipped by Heather Rankin. Her win gave her the right to represent Canada at the 1990 World Championships. At the 1990 Worlds, they lost to Norway's Dordi Nordby in the semi-final. Her Hearts win in 1990 gave her team the right to represent team Canada at the 1991 Scott Tournament of Hearts. At that tournament, her team finished with 6 wins and 5 losses. She returned to the Hearts in 1995, finishing with a 7–4 record, just missing the playoffs. Jo-Ann Rizzo (born June 1, 1963 in Zweibrücken, West Germany) is a Canadian curler from Brantford, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Kerry Galusha. Career Rizzo grew up in Germany, where her father was stationed in the military. She moved to Canada at age 16. She attended the University of Western Ontario where she won two Ontario University Athletics championships. As of 2013, Rizzo has played in 13 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. She is also a former provincial mixed champion. She played third for her husband Nick Rizzo at the 2003 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, where they finished in 4th place. Rizzo qualified for the 2005 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, where she and her rink of Cheryl McPherson, Kimberly Tuck and Sara Gatchell finished in 9th with a 2-7 record. Kathy Brown (born July 12, 1960) is an American dance and house singer from South Carolina. Her credits include vocals on the songs "Turn Me Out (Turn to Sugar)" and "Strings of Life (Stronger on My Own)". Career Brown began singing in her local gospel choir. After joining the contemporary R&B group Sweet Cinnamon. Kathy met with New York-based producer David Shaw through a mutual friend. Theresa Breen (born December 4, 1965) is a Canadian curler from Bedford, Nova Scotia. She currently skips her own team out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Curling career Breen was the long-time third for the Anne Merklinger rink in the 1990s. As a member of that team, she would win four provincial championships, and would play in four Scott Tournament of Hearts, representing Ontario. Her first Hearts appearance was in 1993, where the team won a bronze medal, after losing to Manitoba's Maureen Bonar in the semi-final. The team returned to the Hearts the following year, but missed the playoffs after winning just 4 round robin games. The team returned to the Hearts in 1998, making it all the way to the final before losing to Alberta's Cathy Borst to settle for silver. Breen's final Hearts appearance was in 2000 where the team once again made it all the way to the final before losing, this time to British Columbia's Kelley Law rink. Anne Merklinger
Anne Merklinger (born November 15, 1958) is CEO of Own the Podium. She is a retired Canadians, Canadian curling, curler. She won the Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's championship, in 1990 and went on to win the bronze medal at the World Curling Championships, World Championships. She curled out of the Rideau Curling Club. Before curling, Merklinger was a notable swimmer. In the late 1970s, she was a member of the Canadian national swimming team. Following her curling career, Merklinger served as director general of the Canadian Canoe Association, Canoe Kayak Canada. She also worked with the Commission for the Inclusion of Athletes with a Disability and served as a board member for Special Olympics Canada.
