Kristen Santos
Kristen Santos-Griswold (born November 2, 1994) is an American short-track speed skater. Biography Santos started figure skating at the age of three and became interested in short-track speed skating when she saw a television commercial featuring Dutch short-track speed skater Wilma Boomstra, who later became her coach. She started the sport at the age of nine in her hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut. After high school, she moved to Salt Lake City to combine her sport with a degree in kinesiology at the University of Utah. Santos entered her first professional competition in 2013 and entered the US Olympic qualifying tournament in early 2014 but failed to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia. In 2015, she participated in her first World Cup. In Dresden, she raced the 500 and 1500 meters and placed 32nd and 28th, respectively. Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice skating, ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters (typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track with a length of . Suzanne Schulting
Suzanne Schulting (; born 25 September 1997) is a Dutch short track speed skater who is also active as a long track speed skater. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she won the Netherlands' first-ever gold medal in short track speed skating and became one of the youngest-ever Dutch Winter Olympic champions. She is also a two-time overall World Champion (2019, 2021) and three-time overall European Champion (2019, 2020, 2021), and the current world record holder for 1000m. Biography Schulting took up short track speed skating when she was eight years old in Thialf, Heerenveen. She won a gold medal in the 1500m event at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Sofia. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she won a bronze medal in the 3000m relay and a gold medal in the 1000m. This was the first time the Netherlands had ever won a gold medal in short track speed skating. The 2021–22 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup is a multi-race tournament over a season for short track speed skating. The season began on 21 October 2021 in China and ended on 28 November 2021 in Netherlands. 2021 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
The 2021 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships were held from 5 to 7 March 2021 in Dordrecht, Netherlands. Criticism and controversies Many prominent countries didn’t attend or boycotted the world championship for various reasons, some related to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as Japan, China and South Korea. The Netherlands, Italy, France, Hungary and Russia (as Russian Skating Union) were the only countries with all their top skaters and roster, hence raising the question of the validity of this world championship results. Some heats in preliminary rounds were misbalanced and tended to favour athletes of countries who were put in the same or easiest heats like Netherlands and Italy.
