Krishna Winston
Krishna Winston is an American academic and translator of German literature. She is the daughter of translators Richard and Clara Winston.Fraser, C. Gerald (5 January 1980)Richard Winston, 62, Translator of Books from German Is Dead '' The New York Times'' She obtained her BA at Smith College, followed by an MPhil and a doctorate from Yale University. She is currently the Marcus L. Taft Professor of German Language and Literature at Wesleyan University. She has translated more than 30 books, including works by Oskar Schlemmer, Golo Mann, Grete Weil, Christoph Hein, Peter Handke, Werner Herzog, and Günter Grass. She has received several prizes for excellence in translation. These include the Schlegel-Tieck Prize (twice) and the Kurt and Helen Wolff Prize. German literature () comprises those literature, literary texts written in the German language. This includes literature written in Germany, Austria, the German parts of Switzerland and Belgium, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, South Tyrol in Italy and to a lesser extent works of the German diaspora. Count Christian von Krockow (26 May 1927 – 17 March 2002), writing in German as Christian Graf von Krockow, was a German writer and political scientist. Count Christian von Krockow was born in Rumbske (Rumsko) near the city of Stolp (Słupsk), Poland, the scion of a historic Pomeranian noble family. In 1945, as the Red Army advanced into the Province of Pomerania, he became a refugee and fled to Hamburg. Between 1947 and 1954, Krockow studied sociology, philosophy, and law at the universities of Göttingen, in Germany, where he earned his doctoral degree, and Durham, in England. Between 1961 and 1969 he was a professor of political science at the universities of Göttingen, Saarbrücken, and Frankfurt. Eva Heller (8 April 1948 - 31 January 2008) was a German writer and social scientist. She was born in Esslingen am Neckar. Career As a writer, she published in a wide range of genres, including novels, children's books and non-fiction works. Her work has been translated into English. Rainer Werner Fassbinder (; 31 May 1945 – 10 June 1982), sometimes credited as R. W. Fassbinder, was a German filmmaker. Ralf Georg Reuth (born 4 June 1952 in Oberfranken) is a German journalist and historian.Enrico Syring: ''Review: Ralf Georg Reuth, Hitler. Eine politische Biographie''.
