Kris Kuksi
Kris Kuksi is an American artist. In 2006 he was among approximately fifty finalists in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition organised at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. Education Kuksi received his Master of Fine Arts from Fort Hays University in 2002. Work Kuksi has studied with established artists in Italy, Austria and Spain, including participating in several international workshops including "Painting the Fantastic" with Robert Venosa in Italy, "Old Masters New Visions Seminar" with Philip Rubinov Jacobson in Austria and "Painting Dali's Garden", with Venosa in Spain.The Arts Hays, Kansas. Assemblage (art)
Assemblage is an artistic form or medium usually created on a defined substrate that consists of three-dimensional elements projecting out of or from the substrate. It is similar to collage, a two-dimensional medium. It is part of the visual arts and it typically uses found objects, but is not limited to these materials. History The origin of the art form dates to the cubist constructions of Pablo Picasso c. 1912–1914. The origin of the word (in its artistic sense) can be traced back to the early 1950s, when Jean Dubuffet created a series of collages of butterfly wings, which he titled ''assemblages d'empreintes''. However, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso and others had been working with found objects for many years prior to Dubuffet. Russian artist Vladimir Tatlin created his "counter-reliefs" in the mid 1910s. Last Gasp is a San Francisco-based book publisher with a lowbrow art and counterculture focus. Owned and operated by Ron Turner, for most of its existence Last Gasp was a publisher, distributor, and wholesaler of underground comix and books of all types. Last Gasp was established in 1970. Although the company came onto the scene a bit later than some of the other underground publishers, Last Gasp continued publishing comix far longer most of its competitors. In addition to publishing notable original titles like ''Slow Death'', ''Wimmen's Comix'', ''Binky Brown Meets the Holy Virgin Mary'', and '' Weirdo'', it also picked up the publishing reins of important titles — such as ''Zap Comix'' and '' Young Lust'' — from rivals who had gone out of business. The Fraser Gallery were two Washington, DC (1996-2011) and Bethesda, Maryland (2002-2011) art galleries founded by Catriona Fraser, an ex-pat British photographer and art dealer. She has lived in Washington, DC since 1996. History Fraser opened The Fraser Gallery in 1996 in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. In 2002 she opened a second gallery in Bethesda, a Maryland suburb of the Greater Washington, DC area. Fraser was also the founder of Secondsight, an organization of women photographers. The galleries closed in 2011. Kansas
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita.
