Vikingarna (band)
Vikingarna is a Swedish dansband formed in Karlstad in 1958. It is the best-selling dansband, and one of the best-selling artists, in Scandinavia and is often regarded as the greatest dansband to have existed. At the time of its 2004 dissolution it had sold more than 11 million records. History 1958–1973: Formation and early years In 1958, as skiffle bands were reaching the height of their popularity in Europe, Ji-Coo and the Vikings were formed in Sweden, with Gunnar Olsson on guitar, Hans Axelsson on bass, Egon Olsson on drums, Svante Valjestöl on keyboards, Jens “Ji-Coo” Carlson on saxophone, and Newman Alexander on trumpet. The band did not have a lead singer at first, but after a series of auditions, Kerstin Larsson was hired for the job. Christer Sjögren
Hans Christer Sjögren (born 6 April 1950) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the dansband Vikingarna. Early life Hans Christer Sjögren was born in Hagfors, Sweden, on 6 April 1950, as the child of Eivor (née Östling) and Hans Sjögren. Career 1978–2004: Vikingarna On 15 September 1978, Stefan Borsch left the band and Sjögren reluctantly became their lead singer. The first album by Vikingarna with Christer Sjögren as singer is " Kramgoa låtar 7", released in 1979. 2008–present He competed in Melodifestivalen 2008, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Taking one of the two top spots in the first semi-final, his song " I Love Europe" was qualified for the final in the Globe Arena on 15 March 2008. He finished in 9th place. Stefan Borsch
Stefan Henrik Borsch (born 19 January 1947) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. At first, he sang for Swedish dansband Öijwinds, and from 1973 for the dansband Vikingarna (band), Vikingarna, which he left in 1979. After this, he began a solo career. He participated at the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1985 with the song "Sjung din sång", which was knocked out in the first round. In parallel to his solo albums he also sang with Anders Engbergs until 1988. The upcoming year he began appearing together with Spotlight, later appearing under the name Stefan Borsch orkester releasing albums until the 1993 band breakup. Between 11 February 1995 and 4 December 1999 he was a member of Keith Elwins orkester. before ending his musical career in 1999. On 3 July 2004, he made an appearance in the Arvika Park together with Vikingarna during the band's final appearance. "Dschinghis Khan" (; "Genghis Khan") is a song by German disco group Dschinghis Khan. It was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 and released as the first single from the group's debut album, ''Dschinghis Khan'' (1979). It was a number one hit in West Germany, and a top 10 hit also in Austria, Finland, Norway and Switzerland.
