Kotda Nayani
Kotda Nayani is a village and former non-salute princely state on Saurastra peninsula in Gujarat, western India. History Kotda Nayani was a petty princely state and colonial thana, comprising only the village, in the Halar ''prant'' of Kathiawar, ruled by Jadeja Rajput Chieftains. It had a population of 1,365 in 1901, yielding a state revenue of 16,135 Rupees (1903-4, mostly from land) and a paying a tribute of 347 Rupees, to the British and Junagadh State. In 1943, with the implementation of the 'attachment scheme', when Kotda-Nayani thana, Hadala taluka and Mali(y)a state were merged into Morvi State, that thus enlarged its territory by an additional 310 km² with about 12,500 inhabitants, and on 15 February 1948 merged into the United State of Kathiawar after the 1947 accession to India India, officially the Republic of India (Hindi: ), is a country in South Asia. Princely State
A princely state (also called native state or Indian state) was a nominally sovereign entity of the British Raj, British Indian Empire that was not directly governed by the British, but rather by an Indian ruler under a form of indirect rule, subject to a subsidiary alliance and the suzerainty or paramountcy of the the Crown, British crown. There were officially 565 princely states when India and Pakistan became independent in 1947, but the great majority had contracted with the viceroy to provide public services and tax collection. Only 21 had actual state governments, and only four were large (Hyderabad State, Mysore State, Kashmir and Jammu (princely state), Jammu and Kashmir State, and Baroda State). Rajput (from Sanskrit ''raja-putra'' 'son of a king') is a large multi-component cluster of castes, kin bodies, and local groups, sharing social status and ideology of genealogical descent originating from the Indian subcontinent. Morvi State
Morvi State, also spelled as Morvee State or Morbi State, was a princely salute state in the historical Halar ''prant'' (district) of Kathiawar during the British Raj. The town of Morvi (Morbi), Gujarat, was its capital. The Kotwals of the royal palace of Morvi were Talpada Kolis of Radhavanaj village of Kheda district. The rulers of the princely state belonged to the Jadeja dynasty of Rajputs. The state's last ruler signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India on 15 February 1948. Junagadh State
Junagarh or Junagadh ( ur, ) was a princely state in Gujarat ruled by the Muslim Babi dynasty in British India, until its integration into the Union of India in 1948. History Muhammad Sher Khan Babai was the founder of the Babi Pashtun dynasty of Junagarh in 1654. His descendants, the Babi Nawabs of Junagarh, conquered large territories in southern Saurashtra. The Jadeja (also spelled Jarejo) (Gujarati: ) is a Rajput clan that inhabits the Indian state of Gujarat. They claim to be descended from the legendary Jamshed of Iran. They also claim descent from Krishna. They originated from pastoral communities and laid a claim on the Rajput identity after marriages with Sodha Rajput women by adopting a process called Rajputisation. Kathiawar
Kathiawar () is a peninsula, near the far north of India's west coast, of about bordering the Arabian Sea. It is bounded by the Gulf of Kutch in the northwest and by the Gulf of Khambhat (Gulf of Cambay) in the east. In the northeast, it is connected to the rest of Gujarat and borders on the low, fertile hinterland of Ahmedabad.
