Aurus Motors (Russian language, Russian: ''Аурус Моторс'') is a Russian luxury automobile company founded in 2018, originally strictly as a Russian motorcade vehicle brand until 2021 when the company's first civilian model, the Aurus Senat, began production in May. Name According to the company, ''Aurus'' is a portmanteau of ''Aura (paranormal), aura'' or ''aurum'' (Latin for 'gold') and ''Russia, Rus''. Aurus Senat
The Aurus Senat (russian: Сенат) is a luxury full-size sedan by Russian automaker Aurus Motors and developed by NAMI in Moscow, Russia. The armoured limousine is powered by a 4.4 litre V8 engine developed by NAMI, with a 6.6 litre V12 (634 kW) becoming available at a later date. It is the Presidential state car of Russia. Development of the Senat started in 2013 with the car (in civilian S600 or official L700 versions) being put into production in 2021 at the Sollers JSC factory in Yelabuga. The Aurus Senat was styled after the ZIS-110 limousine, which obtains a legendary status in Russia. The Aurus Senat is part of the Kortezh series, which will eventually include a van and an SUV. The Russian presidential state car is the official state car of the President of Russia. The current presidential state car is an Aurus Senat limousine, which replaced a Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard Pullman. The car is equipped with many life-saving, offensive, and defensive measures, and is built to the Federal Protective Service's standards. The Aurus Senat was developed in Russia by the NAMI as part of the "Kortezh" project. The Senat was publicly presented for the first time at the Fourth inauguration of Vladimir Putin in 2018.
