Bae Suah
Bae Suah (born 1965) is a South Korean author and translator. Life Bae graduated from Ewha Womans University with a degree in chemistry. At the time of her debut in 1993, she was a government employee working behind the embarkation/disembarkation desk at Gimpo Airport in Incheon. Without formal instruction or guidance from a literary mentor, Bae wrote stories as a hobby. But it wasn't long before she left her stultifying job to become one of the most daringly unconventional writers to grace the Korean literary establishment in modern years. She made her debut as a writer with "A Dark Room in 1988" in 1993. Bae stayed in Germany for 11 months between 2001 and 2002, where she began learning German. She edits contents in literary magazine Axt since 2015. Jo Kyung-ran
Jo Kyung Ran (This is the author's preferred Romanization per LTI Korea) is a South Korean writer. Life Jo Kyung Ran was born in Seoul in 1969 where she went on to study creative writing at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, but did not decide to become a writer until she turned 28. Jo lived in Bonngcheon-dong for nearly 20 years in a small rooftop apartment that her father built for her. She made her literary debut in 1996 with the short story, French Optical which won the Donga-Ilbo Prize. Internationally famous, she is a speaker in demand for conferences, having appeared at “Beyond Borders: Translating and Publishing Korean Literature in the U.S.” in New York in 2009 and more recently at The Seoul International Forum for Literature 2011. Jang Eun-jin
Jang Eun-Jin (born 1976) is a female South Korean writer. Life Jang Eun-Jin was born in 1976 in Gwangju City, Jeollanamdo, South Korea. She has a twin sister, Kim Hee-jin. Jang attended Cheonam National University in Gwangju from which she graduated with a degree in Geography. In 2004, Jang won the Jooggang Daily New Writers Award for her debut titled Kitchen Laboratory, which was eventually published as a book in 2008. Im Yunjidang
Im Yunjidang (임윤지당, 任允摯堂; 1721-1793) was a Korean writer and neo-Confucian philosopher. She defended the right for a woman to become a Confucian master and argued that men and women did not differ in their human nature by interpretations of Confucianism values in moral self cultivation and human nature. Life Im Yujidang was born in Wonju, Gangwon Province into the Pungcheon Im clan (풍천 임씨, 豊川 任氏) to Im Jeok who served as a judge in Hamheung. She belonged to a poor yangban family. Hwang Jung Eun (born 1976) is a South Korean writer and podcast celebrity. Life Hwang was born in Seoul, South Korea. She dropped out of Incheon National University. Sijo
''Sijo'' () is a Korean traditional poetic form that emerged in the Goryeo period, flourished during the Joseon Dynasty, and is still written today. Bucolic, metaphysical, and cosmological themes are often explored. The three lines average 14–16 syllables, for a total of 42–48: theme (3, 4,4,4); elaboration (3,4,4,4); counter-theme (3,5) and completion (4,3). ''Sijo'' may be narrative or thematic and introduces a situation in line 1, development in line 2, and twist and conclusion in line 3. The first half of the final line employs a "twist": a surprise of meaning, sound, or other device. Hwang Jin-i
Hwang Jini or Hwang Jin-Yi (; 1506 – 1560), also known by her gisaeng name Myeongwol ("bright moon", ), was one of the most famous gisaeng of the Joseon Dynasty. Hwang Sun-mi
Hwang Seon-mi (born 1963) is a South Korean author and professor who is best known for her fable ''The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly'', which has also been made into a successful animated film in South Korea, ''Leafie, A Hen into the Wild''. Life Born in 1963 as the second of five children, Hwang Seon-mi was unable to attend middle school due to poverty but, thanks to a teacher who gave her a key to a classroom, she was able to go to the school and read books whenever she wanted.
