Kongsberg Church
Kongsberg Church ( no, Kongsberg kirke, nn, Kongsberg kyrkje) is a building and congregation of the Church of Norway located at Kongsberg in Viken (county), Viken Counties of Norway, county, Norway. Kongsberg Church, a large baroque church, was designed by Joachim Andreas Stukenbrock and the construction period lasted from 1740 in Norway, 1740 to 1761 in Norway, 1761. It has a simple exterior with a richly decorated rococo interior. Kongsberg Church was constructed of brick and designed with a cruciform floor plan. The design of the church was inspired by Garrison Church, Copenhagen, Garnisons Church in Copenhagen. Virtually all fixtures in the church are of wood, but pillars and surfaces have been marbled. The whole church has a cool blue color as a result. On either side of the altar and pulpit are the pillars that bear the organ gallery above. Kongsberg
Kongsberg () is a historical mining town and municipality in Buskerud, Viken county, Norway. The city is located on the river Numedalslågen at the entrance to the valley of Numedal. Kongsberg has been a centre of silver mining, arms production and forestry for centuries, and is the site of high technology industry including the headquarters of Norway's largest defence contractor Kongsberg Gruppen. Kongsberg Gloger Organ
The Gloger Organ in Kongsberg Church in Kongsberg, Norway was built by Gottfried Heinrich Gloger in 1765. Because of damage caused by a fire, the organ was disused from the end of the 19th century. In January 2001, the Gloger organ was restored. The organ builder Jürgen Ahrend Jürgen Ahrend (born 28 April 1930) is a German organ builder famous for restoring instruments such as the Rysum organ and the Arp Schnitger organ in St. Jacobi, Hamburg (St James's Church) as well as building original instruments. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. Michael Heltzen
Michael Heltzen (22 June 1712 – 10 September 1770) was a Norwegian mining engineer. He was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Helle Michelsen (1674-1725) and Sophie Cathrine Paulsdatter Vogt (d. 1723). He started studies at the University of Copenhagen. In 1733, he went on a several-year study trip in Europe, where he toured German mining operations. He was assigned a position as civil servant ( no, assessor) at Kongsberg from 1740. He served as head of the Kongsberg Silver Mines from 1756, and assumed the position of ' from 1758, and the position of ' from 1764. Eric Gustav Tunmarck
Eric Gustaf Tunmarck (1 May 1729 – 1789) was a Swedish-Norwegian painter. Biography He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. His apprenticeship was with Jacob von Schönfeldt (1709–1766) in Gothenburg. He arrived in Kongsberg during 1760, bringing a certificate from the parish priest in Holmestrand. He worked with Johan Diderich von Dram (ca 1725–1798) contributing to the interior decoration of Kongsberg Church (''Kongsberg kirke''). He also entered service with Søren Christensen Daugaard who was awarded a contract for the church's ceiling painting. After this assignment, he established himself as a portrait painter and painter of church interior in Norway. Hokksund
Hokksund is a town in the municipality of Øvre Eiker in the county of Viken, Norway. History Hokksund is the administrative centre, and largest town in Øvre Eiker, with a population of around 8,000. Hokksund is located 18 km west of Drammen. The river Drammenselva flows through the town, 500m from the centre. Hokksund has developed on both sides of the river. Hokksund is located in a rich agricultural district. Forestry has traditionally been the principal industry, but engineering, especially electrical as well as the cement industry, have become important within the past century. Vestfold
Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. In 2020 the county became part of the much larger county of Vestfold og Telemark. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it bordered the previous Buskerud and Telemark counties. Holmestrand
is a town and municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Holmestrand. The town was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The neighboring rural municipality of Botne was merged into the municipality of Holmestrand on 1 January 1964. Sande municipality merged into Holmestrand on January 1, 2020. The municipality of Hof was merged into Holmestrand on January 1, 2018. The town lies by the Oslofjord and is built beside the water. It was granted municipal status in 1752, but had been a harbour for exporting of timber/lumber since around 1550.
