Kongens Enghave
Kongens Enghave ("king's meadow"), commonly known as Sydhavnen ("south harbour") or the postal district of 2450 Copenhagen SV (southwest) is a district in southern Copenhagen. While its core is a largely pre-WWII former working class district, it also contains an upscale residential area along the harbour having been developed after 2000, scattered industrial areas, large parks such as Valbyparken and Sydhavnstippen, allotment gardens and parts of Vestre Kirkegård, the city's largest cemetery. The area has historically been a working class quarter, dissected by major transport corridors and characterized by industry along the harbour-front. Since the turn of the millennium, this picture is starting to change. While the central parts of the district in general remains a relatively poor neighbourhood with social challenges, the harbour-front areas of Sluseholmen and Teglholmen have undergone massive redevelopment into new residential neighbourhoods. Quarantine
A quarantine is a restriction on the movement of people, animals and goods which is intended to prevent the spread of disease or pests. It is often used in connection to disease and illness, preventing the movement of those who may have been exposed to a communicable disease, yet do not have a confirmed medical diagnosis. It is distinct from medical isolation, in which those confirmed to be infected with a communicable disease are isolated from the healthy population. Quarantine considerations are often one aspect of border control. The concept of quarantine has been known since biblical times, and is known to have been practised through history in various places. Copenhagen Castle
Copenhagen Castle ( da, Københavns Slot) was a castle on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in the late 14th century and was located at the site of the current Christiansborg Palace. History In 1167, Bishop Absalon (c. 1128–1201) founded a fortress on the islet of Slotsholmen in the harbour of Copenhagen. It consisted of a courtyard with several buildings and surrounded by a wall for protection. During the years after the demolition of Bishop Absalon's Castle by the Hansa League in 1369, the ruins on the island were covered with earthworks, on which the new stronghold, Copenhagen Castle, was built. In 1343 King Valdemar Atterdag took over Absalon's castle, but upon his death in 1375 the right to the property returned to the Diocese of Roskilde. Royal Stables (Denmark)
The Royal Stables ( da, De Kongelige Stalde) is the mews (i.e., combined stables and carriage house) of the Danish Monarchy which provides the ceremonial transport for the Danish Royal Family during state events and festive occasions. The Royal Stables are located at Christiansborg Palace on the island of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1789, the number of horses reached a peak with 270 horses stabled. Nowadays, there are about 20 horses in the Royal Stables. The Royal Stables are regularly open to the public and include a small museum. The state coaches and other carriages are kept there, along with about 20 horses. Enghavevej (1850)
Enghavevej is a major street in the Vesterbro and Kongens Enghave districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Vesterbrogade in the north to Sydhavns Plads in the south, linking Kingosgade with Sydhavnsgade and Borgbjergsvej. History 18th and 19th centuries The name Kongens Enghave (The King's Meadow Garden) is known from 1683 and referred to an area used for production of animal feed for the king's horses. The road was created in 1795 when the area was divided into 22 estates and sold. The road continued all the way to Gammel Køge Landevej. The only buildings along the road were the farms Frederiksholm, Larsens Minde, Lises Minde Frederikslund and Wilhelms Minde. In 1871, Frederiksholm was acquired by two brothers and converted into a brickworks. Frederiksholm Brickworks produced many of the bricks that were used in the construction of Vesterbro. Amager Vest
Amager Vest (English:West Amager) is one of the ten administrative districts of Copenhagen Denmark. It located on in the north-western part of the island of Amager, the largest island in the Øresund. The district is bordered by Amager Øst to the east along Amagerbrogade, the main shopping street and thoroughfare of the part of Copenhagen. Amager Vest is the largest of the ten new official administrative districts of Copenhagen, but has at the same time the smallest population. Valby
Valby () is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is in the southwestern corner of Copenhagen Municipality, and has a mixture of different types of housing. This includes apartment blocks, terraced housing, areas with single-family houses and allotments, plus the remaining part of the old Valby village, around which the district has formed, intermingled with past and present industrial sites. Valby Hill marks the boundary between Valby and the more central and urban neighbouring Vesterbro district. Carlsberg (district)
Carlsberg () is an area located straddling the border of Valby and Vesterbro districts in central Copenhagen, Denmark approximately 2.4 km from the City Hall Square. The area emerged when J.C. Jacobsen founded his original brewery in the district in 1847. The first brewing took place on 11 November 1847 and production continued until 30 October 2008, when production was moved to Fredericia in Jutland. The Jacobsen House Brewery is however still located in the district and produces specialty beers. The entire brewery grounds spread over more than 30 hectares and is currently being transformed into a new city district in Copenhagen. Ny Ellebjerg
Ny Ellebjerg station is a railway station on the S-train and inter-city network in Copenhagen, Denmark. It serves as an interchange station between the Køge radial (A, E), the Ring line (F), and the Copenhagen–Ringsted Line (InterCity services). It will change name to København Syd (Copenhagen South) by 2024, coinciding with the completion of the M4 Metro line. Before the station opened on 6 January 2007, there was an S-train station called Ellebjerg station a few hundred metres southwest of the current station, where the Køge-Bugt railway passes over Ellebjergvej. That station is now closed. Ny Ellebjerg Station will be the southern terminus of the planned M4 line of the Copenhagen Metro. New platforms have in 2013 been opened for the high-speed Copenhagen–Ringsted Line, on which trains run via Køge Nord to Ringsted, in future at up to 250 km/h. M4 (Copenhagen)
The M4 (the Harbour Line) of the Copenhagen Metro connects Nordhavn in the north with Sydhavn in the south. The central part of the line shares tracks with the City Circle Line (M3). The Nordhavn branch was approved by the Danish Parliament in 2012 and was opened on 28 March 2020. The Sydhavn branch was approved in 2015 and is expected to open in 2024. Both Nordhavn and Sydhavn are former industrial areas situated at opposite ends of the Port of Copenhagen and currently undergoing urban renewal under the auspices of By & Havn. When the City Circle Line was planned, the M4 was intended to supplement the M3 from Nørrebro to København H providing increased metro capacity to the eastern section of the inner city.
