Kofi Barnes
Justice Kofi N. Barnes is a Ghanaian-born judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Canada. Early life and education Kofi Barnes was born in Ghana to Samuel Kwamina Barnes and his wife Cecilia. His primary school education was at the University Basic School, Legon. He then attended the Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School also in Legon, Ghana. He originally wanted to train in medicine but switched to law after a friend suggested he could not get into law school. He obtained the BA (degree) from Trent University in 1988. He later completed the LL. B. degree at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1991. Ontario Superior Court
The Superior Court of Justice (French: ''Cour supérieure de justice'') is a superior court in Ontario. The Court sits in 52 locations across the province, including 17 Family Court locations, and consists of over 300 federally appointed judges. In 1999, the Superior Court of Justice was renamed from the Ontario Court (General Division). The Superior Court is one of two divisions of the Court of Ontario. The other division is the lower court, the Ontario Court of Justice. The Superior Court has three specialized branches: Divisional Court, Small Claims Court, and Family Court.
