Kochaj Albo Rzuć
''Kochaj albo rzuć'' (''Love or leave'') is a 1977 Polish comedy film directed by Sylwester Chęciński. It is the third and final part of a trilogy about two quarreling peasants Kargul and Pawlak, which started with ''Sami swoi'' ( All Friends Here or Our Folks; literally "only our own") (1967) and was followed by ''Nie ma mocnych'' (a Polish idiom meaning "no one can do") (1974). Plot Kazimierz Pawlak and Władysław Kargul, two elderly peasants from Polish conservative countryside, and their granddaughter Ania receive an invitation to visit the United States of America from Kazimierz' brother John. They begin their travels on the ship TSS Stefan Batory, and end it on a United Airline Flight to the O'Hare airport in Chicago. After arriving in Chicago, it is revealed that John died a few days earlier, leaving behind not only his fortune but also an illegitimate daughter. Sylwester Chęciński
Sylwester Chęciński (21 May 1930, Skwarki – 8 December 2021, Wrocław) was a Polish film and television director. He was born in Susiec, Poland, on 21 May 1930. Chęciński died in Wrocław on 8 December 2021, at the age of 91. Biography Chęciński was born 21 May 1930 in Skwarki. In 1950, he graduated from the 1st Secondary School of General Education named after Jędrzej Śniadeckiego in Dzierżoniów, and in 1956 the Directing Department of the State Film School in Łódź. He is best known for the trilogy Sami swoi, Nie ma mocnych and Kochaj albo rzuć. He directed his first film ''Historia żółtej ciżemki'' in 1961. In the years 1976–1980 he was the deputy artistic director of the film group "Iluzjon", and in the years 1988–1991 the deputy artistic director of the film group "Kadr". Jan Pietrzak (pronounced ; born 26 April 1937) is a Polish satirist, singer-songwriter, stage and film actor, and columnist for ''Tygodnik Solidarność'' (Solidarity Weekly). Career Pietrzak co-founded in Warsaw, with Jonasz Kofta, the student cabaret club ''Hybrydy'', which operated in 1962–67. In 1967 Pietrzak founded '' Pod Egidą'' ("Under the Aegis"), a subversive Warsaw literary cabaret. Pietrzak was one of the more popular voices of anticommunism in the People's Republic of Poland. Pietrzak attained country-wide and international recognition during the Solidarity years especially with his protest song, ''"Żeby Polska była Polską"'' ("So that Poland Could be Poland"—abroad, often called "Let Poland Be Poland") with music by Włodzimierz Korcz. Andrzej Wasilewicz (10 March 1951 – 13 December 2016) was a Polish stage and film actor, and film director. Wasilewicz was born in Białogard in 1951. In 1975, he graduated from PWST in Warsaw. His first major film role came in 1974—as Zenek, Ania's fiancé—in the film ''Nie ma mocnych''. Since the 1980s he lived in the U.S. and studied at the Columbia University. Wasilewicz had suffered from Parkinson's disease and died from the disease on December 13, 2016, at a hospital on Long Island, New York. He was 65. Halina Buyno-Łoza (12 December 1907, Łódź – 13 September 1991, Wrocław), also known separately with each last name, was a Polish theatre actress and dancer. She is also known for being imprisoned after making public her former role as an informant for the Polish Ministry of Public Security on her colleagues at the Municipal Theatre. Education and career In 1937 she graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. Before World War II, she was an actress at the Vilnius City Theatre. After the war, she was recruited by the communist Polish government's Security Service to act as an informant for "anti-state crimes", especially among her colleagues at the Municipal Theatre. After a few years, she became worried about what would happen to her friends in the theatre industry if she continued, so she outed herself to others of her actions.
