The is an annual marathon sporting event for men and women over the classic distance of 42.195 kilometres which is held in mid November in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Before of race start of first edition 2011, a stone monument was unveiled to commemorate the first ever marathon held in Japan, the Marathon Great Race held in Kobe on March 21, 1909. Kobe ( , ; officially , ) is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture Japan. With a population around 1.5 million, Kobe is Japan's seventh-largest city and the third-largest port city after Tokyo and Yokohama. The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. He is the founder and director of the Suzuki Company of Toga (SCOT), and organizer of Japan’s first international theatre festival (Toga Festival).
