Ko Reibun (; born September 24, 1981, in Hebei), né Nie Yuncong (), is a professional Go player. Biography Rin became a professional in 1997. He is the son of one of the greatest Chinese players, Nie Weiping 9 dan, and his mother is Kong Xiangming 8 dan. He moved to Japan to study under Yasuro Kikuchi was a Japanese amateur Go player. Biography Kikuchi founded the prestigious ''Ryokusei Academy'' in 1975, which has become one of the most prolific Go schools in Japan. Yasuro Kikuchi
was a Japanese amateur Go player. Biography Kikuchi founded the prestigious ''Ryokusei Academy'' in 1975, which has become one of the most prolific Go schools in Japan. Some of the most famous players to come out of the academy include Kikuyo Aoki (current Women's Meijin), Atsushi Kato, Jiro Akiyama, Tomochika Mizokami (winner of many youth titles), and Keigo Yamashita (four times Kisei). Kikuchi's other students include Shinichi Aoki, Ryuichi Muramatsu, Keiichi Tsurumaru, Yoshimichi Suzuki, Atsushi Katsura, Ko Reibun. He has won many amateur titles, his biggest coming in 1992 when he won the World Amateur Go Championship. He also came in third place at the 2003 competition. He still actively participated in professional Go competitions that allow amateurs to enter, such as the Meijin Tournament is one of the eight titles in Japanese professional shogi, and is the most prestigious title, along with Ryūō. Nihon Ki-in
The Nihon Ki-in (), also known as the Japan Go Association, is the main organizational body for Go in Japan, overseeing Japan's professional system and issuing diplomas for amateur dan rankings. It is based in Tokyo. The other major Go association in Japan is Kansai Ki-in. Its innovations include the Oteai system of promotion, time limits in professional games, and the introduction of issuing diplomas to strong amateur players, to affirm their ranks. Go (board Game)
Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent. The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game continuously played to the present day. A 2016 survey by the International Go Federation's 75 member nations found that there are over 46 million people worldwide who know how to play Go and over 20 million current players, the majority of whom live in East Asia. The playing pieces are called stones. One player uses the white stones and the other, black. The players take turns placing the stones on the vacant intersections (''points'') of a board. Once placed on the board, stones may not be moved, but stones are removed from the board if the stone (or group of stones) is surrounded by opposing stones on all orthogonally adjacent points, in which case the stone or group is ''captured''. Nie Weiping (; born 17 August 1952) is a professional Go player. Biography Born in Shenzhou, Nie began learning Go at the age of nine and won the inaugural World Amateur Go Championship in 1979. Nie was given 9 dan rank in 1982. He became famous in the Go world after leading China to victory in the China-Japan Supermatches, beating several top Japanese players including his teacher, Fujisawa Hideyuki , also known as Shuko Fujisawa, was a Japanese professional Go player.
