Knut Wiggen
Knut Wiggen (1927– 2016) was a Norwegian-Swedish composer. Wiggen was head of the Fylkingen in Sweden (1959–69) and director of (1964-75). He had a significant influence on Swedish experimental music at all, but especially between the 1950s and 1960s. Biography Wiggen was born in 1927 in Buvika, near Trondheim. After being raised in Trondheim, Wiggen settled in Stockholm (1955). He studied piano with , Hans Leygraf, and Robert Riefling, before arriving at Darmstadt where he attended composition studies under Karl-Birger Blomdahlkom and was associated with both Darmstadtskolen and Pierre Schaeffer. Pontus Hultén
Karl Gunnar Vougt Pontus Hultén (21 June 1924 – 26 October 2006) was a Swedish art collector and museum director. Pontus Hultén is regarded as one of the most distinguished museum professionals of the twentieth century. He was the pioneering former head of the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm and in the 1970s he was invited to participate in the creation of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, where he was the first director of the Musée National d'Art Moderne (MNAM) in 1974–1981. Biography Pontus Hultén was born in Stockholm; he studied art history at Stockholm University and during the 1950s he was a curator at a small art gallery and also organized film screenings. Ulla Wiggen
Ulla Wiggen (born 1942) is a Swedish painter. Wiggen is known for her paintings that interpret electronic circuitry and schematic diagrams. In the late 1960s she was also known for her figure paintings. Early life and education Wiggen was born in Stockholm in 1942. She studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm from 1962 to 1963, the Royal College of Art in Stockholm from 1967 to 1972, the Nordic Psychotherapeutic College from 1972 to 1974 and the Psychology Education Stockholm University from 1978 to 1986. Life and work During the 1960's Wiggen produced a series of painted works based on images of early computers and electronic components. Iannis Xenakis
Giannis Klearchou Xenakis (also spelled for professional purposes as Yannis or Iannis Xenakis; el, Γιάννης "Ιωάννης" Κλέαρχου Ξενάκης, ; 29 May 1922 – 4 February 2001) was a Romanian-born Greek-French avant-garde composer, music theorist, architect, performance director and engineer. After 1947, he fled Greece, becoming a naturalised citizen of France eighteen years later. Xenakis pioneered the use of mathematical models in music such as applications of set theory, stochastic processes and game theory and was also an important influence on the development of electronic and computer music. György Ligeti
György Sándor Ligeti (; ; 28 May 1923 – 12 June 2006) was a Hungarian-Austrian composer of contemporary classical music. He has been described as "one of the most important avant-garde composers in the latter half of the twentieth century" and "one of the most innovative and influential among progressive figures of his time". Born in Transylvania, Romania, he lived in the Hungarian People's Republic before emigrating to Austria in 1956. He became an Austrian citizen in 1968. In 1973 he became professor of composition at the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater, where he worked until retiring in 1989. He died in Vienna in 2006. Pierre Henri Marie Schaeffer (English pronunciation: , ; 14 August 1910 – 19 August 1995) was a French composer, writer, broadcaster, engineer, musicologist, acoustician and founder of Groupe de Recherche de Musique Concrète (GRMC).
