Knud Reimers
Knud Reimers (May 20, 1906 – 1987) was one of the most important Scandinavian yacht designers of the 20th century. Biography Knud Hjelmberg Reimers was born in Århus, Denmark and educated as a shipwright in Germany at Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft in the twenties, a yard building large sailing and motoryachts at the time. He worked as apprentice at Abeking & Rasmussen in ( Bremen-)Lemwerder under the supervision of . His first employment was in Stockholm at the design studio of the famous naval architect Gustaf Estlander. When Estlander suddenly died at the age of 54 in 1930, the 25-year-old Reimers bought his design practice. He promptly sold six 22m² Skerry cruisers to the Detroit Yacht Club. He later drew plans for the great 75m² Skerry cruiser ''Bacchant (II)'' that furthered his reputation as a designer of fast cruisers and racers. Fastnet Race
The Fastnet Race is a biennial offshore yacht race organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club of the United Kingdom with the assistance of the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and the City of Cherbourg in France. The race is named after the Fastnet Rock off southern Ireland, which the race course rounds. Along with Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Newport-Bermuda Race, it is considered one of the classic big offshore races with each distance approximately . Port Hadlock-Irondale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,580 at the 2010 census. Geography Port Hadlock-Irondale is located in northeastern Jefferson County at (48.036614, -122.774938), on the Quimper Peninsula, an arm of the northeast corner of the Olympic Peninsula. The CDP includes the communities of Port Hadlock and Irondale, plus part of Chimacum, all of which form what is locally known as the "tri-area". Irondale is in the northeast corner of the CDP, and Port Hadlock is adjacent to it in the east part of the CDP; both communities abut Port Townsend Bay. Chimacum is on the southern edge of the CDP, in the Chimacum Valley at the intersection of Washington State Route 19 and Chimacum Road. The CDP extends to the west to within of Discovery Bay. Royal Swedish Yacht Club
Royal Swedish Yacht Club ( sv, Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet, KSSS), is the largest and oldest yacht club in Sweden and one of the five oldest in the world, formed 15 May 1830. KSSS is also the oldest yacht club in Continental Europe. Activities include racing, training, education, squadron sailing, match racing and club activities. KSSS also operates the port and has its own ports in Saltsjöbaden and Sandhamn. The first regatta KSSS organized took place on 12 September 1833, and the first regatta with prizes in 1854. Every year the KSSS organizes the Round Gotland Race sailed around Gotland, and the Sandhams Regatta at Sandön, in the Stockholm archipelago. They were the Challenger of Record for the 2013 America's Cup, where they were represented by Artemis Racing. Raymond Creekmore
Raymond Creekmore (May 5, 1905 – May 1984) was a prolific artist, writer and sailboat designer. Creekmore was an American artist who, in the beginning of his career, "wandered" extensively, using his experiences in observation and his direct and expressive draftsmanship as vehicles to bring the sensitivity and ways of life in foreign lands to America's local shores. Creekmore was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Portsmouth, Virginia. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland, graduating from the Maryland Institute School of Mechanical Arts (now "MICA") in 1930. During his days as an art student, he became friends with another student artist, Leonard Bahr and they shared a studio for a while as well as a love of sailing, and remained lifelong friends.
