Lesley Selander (May 26, 1900 – December 5, 1979) was an American film director of Western (genre), Westerns and adventure film, adventure movies. His career as director, spanning 127 feature films and dozens of TV episodes, lasted from 1936 to 1968. Before that, Selander was assistant director on films such as ''The Cat and the Fiddle (film), The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1934), ''A Night at the Opera (film), A Night at the Opera'' (1935), and Fritz Lang's ''Fury (1936 film), Fury'' (1936). The film is also known as ''Border Renegade'' (American alternative title). The supporting cast features Jo Ann Sayers, Russell Hayden, Morris Ankrum, Noah Beery Jr. as Jory's character's Mexican sidekick, Tom Tyler and Alan Ladd (two years out from superstardom in a supporting role as a ranch hand named "Danny"; his part in this film is much larger than his billing would indicate). Norman Houston (1887–1958) was primarily an American screenwriter best known for his work on Westerns. The Story Born in Texas, he was found working in New York City as a quite versatile individual with 4 credits on Broadway in the 1921-1926 period. First as a 2 credits Actor, then as a single credit Writer and finally as a single credit Director; his writing credit was as co-writer for the Broadway play '' Red Light Annie'' in 1923.
