Knife In The Water (film)
''Knife in the Water'' ( pl, Nóż w wodzie) is a 1962 Polish psychological thriller film co-written and directed by Roman Polanski in his feature debut, and starring Leon Niemczyk, Jolanta Umecka, and Zygmunt Malanowicz. Its plot follows a husband and wife who are accompanied on a boating trip with a young male hitchhiker, who spurs a number of escalating confrontations between the couple. The film was nominated for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and is Polanski's only Polish-language feature to date. ''Knife in the Water'' has garnered acclaim from film critics since its release, and is one of Polanski's best-reviewed works. Jakub Goldberg
Jakub Goldberg ( Kuba Goldberg) (August 29, 1924 in Warsaw, Poland – April 27, 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark) was a Polish scriptwriter, assistant director and actor. A graduate of the prestigious Polish Film School in Łódź, Goldberg was a well-known personality in the post-war Polish film community. He worked as a collaborator and assistant director for Polish film directors such as Andrzej Munk, Jerzy Kawalerowicz, and Roman Polanski. As an actor, most notably he starred as one of the two men carrying the wardrobe (opposite Henryk Kluba) in Roman Polanski's award-winning landmark short film '' Two Men and a Wardrobe'' (1958). He also played the electricity meter man in Polanski's short film '' When Angels Fall'' (1959). He was co-writer and assistant director of Polanski's feature debut ''Knife in the Water'' (1962). Poland has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film on a regular basis since 1963. The Oscar is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) is an international professional association of online film journalists, historians and scholars who publish their work on the World Wide Web.
