Track listing Critical reception Punk music review site AbsolutePunk gave the album a rating of 86 out of 100 with Dre Okorley concluding that "''Knife Man'' is synonymous to the gritted teeth and theatrical story lining of a clever manic depressive duo on a wild ride of political blindsiding and folk-rock maturity." Pop Matters gave the album a score of 8/10 stating "The moralizing on ''Knife Man'' does get heavy-handed at times, but the homespun simplicity and rage with which it’s delivered actually adds to its power." AJJ (band)
AJJ is an American folk punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, originally formed in 2004 as Andrew Jackson Jihad. Their lyrics handle themes of shyness, poverty, humanity, religion, addiction, existentialism, and politics. Singer/guitarist Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty are the only remaining founding members. History AJJ (formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad) was formed by Sean Bonnette, Ben Gallaty, and drummer Justin James White, who left the band soon after. They recorded the band's first LP, ''Candy Cigarettes & Cap Guns'', released through the Audioconfusion Manifesto label in 2005. Folk punk (known in its early days as rogue folk) is a fusion of folk music and punk rock. It was popularized in the early 1980s by the Pogues in England, and by Violent Femmes in the United States. Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Audioconfusion is a recording studio in Mesa, Arizona. It was established 1996. The newest incarnation of the studio was built in 2006. It is owned and operated by Jalipaz Nelson. Audioconfusion is notable for its production and recording of various independent Phoenix bands, especially the first four studio albums by AJJ (and the majority of all of their recorded output with the exception of their two most recent studio records). The studio's sound emphasizes natural reverb and live recording methods. History Originally from Pennsylvania, Jalipaz Nelson settled in Arizona at the premature culmination of a road trip when he was hindered from crossing the California border due to ferret regulations.
