Knežija
Knežija is one of the older parts of Trešnjevka, Zagreb, Croatia. The area covered by the local city council Knežija has around 12,000 inhabitants. Recently Knežija is being renewed. A lot of new buildings have been built and the looks of the old neighbourhood have almost disappeared. The music ensemble Trešnjevka, headquartered in Knežija, has existed for more than 30 years, promoting the Croatian national, orchestral and vocal music and instrument called Balkan tambura, tambura. Trešnjevka is a neighborhood of Zagreb, Croatia. Forming one of the city's inner neighborhoods, it is located in the city's southwestern area. The tambura is a stringed instrument that is played as a folk instrument in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Serbia (especially Vojvodina). It has doubled steel strings and is played with a plectrum, in the same manner as a mandolin. The Bulgarian tambura The Bulgarian tambura has 8 steel strings in 4 doubled courses. All the courses are tuned in unison, with no octaves. It is tuned D3 D3, G3 G3, B3 B3, E4 E4. It has a floating bridge and a metal tailpiece.
