Kleśa ( sa, क्लेश, also ''klesha'') is a term from Indian philosophy and yoga, meaning a "poison". The third of the second chapter of Patañjali's ''Yoga sūtras'' explicitly identifies Five Poisons (): Translated into English, these five () s or afflictions () are: * Ignorance (in the form of a misapprehension about reality) (), * egoism (in the form of an erroneous identification of the Self with the intellect) (), * attachment (), * aversion (), and * fear of death (which is derived from clinging ignorantly to life) (). Patanjali ( sa, पतञ्जलि, Patañjali), also called Gonardiya or Gonikaputra, was a Hindu author, mystic and philosopher. Very little is known about him, and while no one knows exactly when he lived; from analysis of his works it is estimated that it was between the 2nd and 4th centuries CE. The ''Yoga Sutras of Patañjali'' is a collection of Sanskrit sutras (aphorisms) on the theory and practice of yoga – 195 sutras (according to Vyāsa and Krishnamacharya) and 196 sutras (according to others, including BKS Iyengar). Avidyā (Hinduism)
Avidyā is a Sanskrit word whose literal meaning is ignorance, misconceptions, misunderstandings, incorrect knowledge, and it is the opposite of '' Vidya''. It is used extensively in Hindu texts, including the Upanishads, and in other Indian religions such as Buddhism and Jainism, particularly in the context of metaphysical reality. Avidyā, in all Dharmic systems, represents fundamental ignorance and misperception of the phenomenal world. Kleshas (Buddhism)
Kleshas ( sa, क्लेश, kleśa; pi, किलेस ''kilesa''; bo, ཉོན་མོངས། ''nyon mongs''), in Buddhism, are mental states that cloud the mind and manifest in unwholesome actions.
