Subterranean Masquerade is a progressive metal band from Israel that was formed in 1997 by Tomer Pink, who is a guitarist and primary songwriter for the band. Originally, it was released by German record label Prophecy Productions in November 2001. Background The album was composed, written and arranged by founding member Terje Vik Schei (a.k.a. Tchort). It is composed of a single 60-minute track and was largely inspired by the death of Tchort's daughter and dedicated to his son, Damien Aleksander, whose baby voice appears a few moments in the song. Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock.
