Kjerstin Dellert
Kjerstin Dellert (4 November 1925 – 5 March 2018) was a Swedish opera singer and theater manager. Life Early life Born in Stockholm, Dellert made her opera debut at Stora teatern (the old Gothenburg Opera stage) in Gothenburg in the 1950s. Vocalist career Her career as a vocalist had begun when she won an Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts contest in 1948 with '' Someone to Watch Over Me''. From the mid-1950s to the 1970s she worked primarily at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm in a variety of opera roles, including Floria in Puccini's ''Tosca'' and Harry Martinson/Erik Lindegren/Karl-Birger Blomdahl's opera ''Aniara'' in 1959. Expressen
''Expressen'' (''The Express'') is one of two nationwide evening newspapers in Sweden, the other being '' Aftonbladet''. ''Expressen'' was founded in 1944; its symbol is a wasp and its slogans are "it stings" or "''Expressen'' to your rescue". Overview The first edition of ''Expressen'' was published on 16 November 1944. A main feature that day was an interview with the crew members of a British bomber who were successful in sinking the German ship ''Tirpitz''. A project of Albert Bonnier Jr., Carl-Adam Nycop, and Ivar Harrie – who was to become the first editor-in-chief – Expressen was created in part to push back against "national socialism and related violent ideologies." ''Illis quorum'' (''Illis quorum meruere labores'') (English: "For Those Whose Labors Have Deserved It"), is a gold medal awarded for outstanding contributions to Swedish culture, science or society. The award was introduced in 1784 by King Gustav III, and was first awarded in 1785. Prior to 1975, the medal was awarded by the King of Sweden. Terrence McNally (November 3, 1938 – March 24, 2020) was an American playwright, librettist, and screenwriter. Confidencen, or Ulriksdal Palace Theatre ( sv, Ulriksdals slottsteater), is a theatre in the park of Ulriksdal Palace in Solna, in the Swedish capital Stockholm. Built in the 1750s and restored from the late 20th century, it is the oldest Rococo theatre in Sweden. History and design The history of the theatre goes back to the 1750s, making it the oldest Rococo theatre in Sweden. In 1751, Louisa Ulrika of Prussia was crowned Queen of Sweden after her marriage to King Adolf Frederick. Ulriksdal Palace was given to her as a gift, and it was at her initiative that the theatre was constructed, inspired by other European palace theatres. For the Eurovision Song Contest 1972, Sweden chose their entrant in a national selection called Melodifestivalen 1972. About 1,000 entries were submitted, and Sveriges Radio picked 10 of them for the final. Family Four, last year's representative, won, again with "Härliga sommardag", a song written by Håkan Elmquist. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1972 Melodifestivalen 1972 was the selection for the 13th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 12th time that this system of picking a song had been used. Approximately 1,000 songs were submitted to Sveriges Radio for the competition. The final was held in the Cirkus (Stockholm), Cirkus in Stockholm on 12 February 1972, presented by Gunilla Marcus and was broadcast on SVT1, TV1 but was not broadcast on radio. ''Sköna Helena'' ''(Beautiful Helen)'' is a Swedish musical film of 1951 directed by Gustaf Edgren, and based loosely on the story and music of the opéra bouffe ''La belle Hélène''. It was director Gustaf Edgren's last film and stars Max Hansen and Eva Dahlbeck. Background Much of the music originates in Jacques Offenbach's opéra bouffe ''La Belle Hélène'' (words by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy) which premiered in Paris in 1864, since when it has been part of the operetta repertory. Eva Elisabet Dahlbeck (8 March 1920 – 8 February 2008) was a Swedish stage, film, and television actress. She received a Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film ''Brink of Life'' (1958). Dahlbeck retired from acting in 1970 and became an author. Biography Eva Dahlbeck was born in Saltsjö-Duvnäs near Stockholm. She attended the prestigious Royal Dramatic Training Academy from 1941 to 1944, and acted on the Theatre's stage from 1944 to 1964.
