Kjelsås
Kjelsås, sometimes called Kjelsaas, is one of the northern neighbourhoods of Oslo situated in Nordre Aker, the northern borough of Oslo, Norway. History Together with Grefsen, Kjelsås was part of the borough ''Grefsen-Kjelsås'' until January 1 2004, when they both became part of the new borough of Nordre Aker. Grefsen and Kjelsås were also part of the former municipality of Aker before the second world war, when the City of Oslo was confined to today's central areas. Geography The district of Kjelsås offers ski jumps, slalom slopes and vast woodland areas for hiking. Lake Maridalsvannet, located close to the woodlands, provides Oslo with its drinking water and is also the source of the Akerselva river, (formerly Frysjaelven). Akerselva is the dividing line between many areas of Oslo including the northern suburbs. Traditionally seen as Eastern or Western Oslo depending on which side of the river one is on. Kjelsås Line
The Kjelsås Line ( no, Kjelsåsbanen) is a tramway line running from Storo to Kjelsås in the northern part of Oslo, Norway. The line opened by Oslo Sporveier on 25 September 1934 as an extension of the Grünerløkka–Torshov Line that terminated at Storo. It is served by line 11 and 12 of the Oslo Tramway operated by Oslo Sporvognsdrift Sporveien Trikken AS, formerly Oslo Sporvognsdrift AS and Oslotrikken AS, is the company that operates the Oslo Tramway in Oslo, Norway. The Oslo tram network ( no, Trikken i Oslo, short from ', 'electric') is the tram system in Oslo, Norway. It consists of six lines with 99 stops and has a daily ridership of 132,000. Nordre Aker
Nordre Aker (Northern Aker) is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. History This area became part of the city of Oslo in 1948. Before that it was a part of Aker municipality in the former Akershus county. Demographics and housing With a population of 52,327 (1 January 2020) Nordre Aker ranks fifth among the boroughs. Kjelsås Fotball
Kjelsås Fotball is the association football section of the sports club Kjelsås IL, based in the Kjelsås/ Grefsen area of Oslo, Norway. The club was founded in 1913. It currently plays in the 2. divisjon, having been relegated from the 1. divisjon in 2001. Kjelsås played play-off against Kongsvinger to earn promotion to Tippeligaen in 1998, but lost 7–2 on aggregate. On 11 May 2011, Kjelsås eliminated the top-tier team Vålerenga in the second round of the 2011 Norwegian Cup. Grefsen
thumbnail, 250px, Grefsen Church Grefsen is a neighbourhood in the city of Oslo, Norway. Grefsen was a part of the municipality of Aker before the Second World War, later incorporated into Oslo. Together with Kjelsås, Grefsen then formed the borough Grefsen-Kjelsås until 1 January 2004, when they became part of the new borough of Nordre Aker. The Gjøvik Railway Line goes through the area, but Grefsen Station is actually located closer to the neighbourhood of Disen. The Kjelsås Tram Line also runs through the area. The local sports field Grefsen stadion is the home field of Kjelsås IL. There are four schools in the area, Grefsen Elementary School (year 1-7), Engebråten Middle School (year 8-10), Morellbakken Middle School (year 8-10) and Nydalen High School (year 11-13). Wenche Synnøve Myhre (born 15 February 1947), known in some countries as Wencke Myhre, is a Norwegian singer who has had a great number of hit songs since the 1960s in the Norwegian, Danish, German and Swedish markets and languages. Early career Myhre was born in Kjelsås, Oslo. She got her first recording contract with composer and producer Arne Bendiksen at the age of 13, after winning a talent contest staged by ''Verdens Gang'' newspaper at the Chat Noir theatre in Oslo in 1960. Akerselva or Akerselven ( en, Aker River) is a river which flows through Oslo. It starts at Maridalsvannet in Oslomarka, and traverses the boroughs of Nordre Aker, Sagene, Grünerløkka, central Oslo and Grønland, whereby it finally ends at Paulsenkaien and Oset in Bjørvika. Frode Olav Olsen Urkedal (born 14 May 1993) is a Norwegian chess player. He holds the title of Grandmaster, and is the 2012 and 2014 Norwegian champion. Urkedal began playing chess as an after-school activity at his school at Kjelsås, in northern Oslo. Urkedal won each of the age-restricted classes of the Norwegian championship in successive years from 2003 to 2006. In 2003 he won the ''Miniputt'' class with 8½ points out of 9, in 2004 he scored 6½ points in the ''Lilleputt'' class together with five other players but won the group due to his superior tiebreak score, in 2005 he won the Cadet class outright with 7½ points, and in 2006 he won the Junior championship after tying for first with 6½ points with three other players before winning the play-off for the junior title.
