Kjell Karlsen
Kjell Oddvar Karlsen (29 July 1931 – 5 May 2020) was a Norwegian band leader, composer, arranger, jazz pianist and organist, and a Nestor of Norwegian music and show business, with a career spanning more than 60 years. He was the father of the singer Webe Karlsen. Career Karlsen was born in Sarpsborg. Inspired by the Nat King Cole jazz ensembles from the time of World War II, he started his own orchestra at the age of 16 in 1947, ''The Syncopators Band'', in Sarpsborg, and he soon became a central figure in the local jazz scene. In the period 1953–59, he had a series of bands with local musicians, many to be influential on the Norwegian and some on the World jazz scenes, like the jazz singer Karin Krog (1955–56), the saxophone players Totti Bergh (1955–59), Bjørn Johansen (musician), Bjørn Johansen (1956–58) and Harald Bergersen (1959), and drummer Ole Jacob Hansen (1959), most of whom later would play central roles in the renowned Kjell Karlsens Big Band that he star ... Sarpsborg
Sarpsborg ( or ), historically Borg, is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Sarpsborg. Sarpsborg is part of the fifth largest urban area in Norway when paired with neighbouring Fredrikstad. As of 1 January 2018, according to Statistics Norway these two municipalities have a total population of 136,127 with 55,840 in Sarpsborg and 81,278 in Fredrikstad. The Gammleng Award ( no, Gammleng-prisen) is a Norwegian culture award created by ''The Fund for Performing Artists'' in 1982, 25 years after the fund was established in 1957. The award's official name is the ''Rolf Gammleng award to performing artists'' (). It's awarded to artists who have in a meritorious way contributed on recordings, stage performances, or concerts. The award is named after Rolf Gammleng, who was leading the ''Norwegian Musicians' Union'' when the fund was created. Bjørn Johan Muri
Bjørn Johan Muri (born 4 January 1990) is a Norwegian singer known for having taken part in Series 5 ''Idol'' (the Norwegian ''Pop Idol'') in 2007 where he came runner-up. In 2010, he took part in the Norwegian qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, with the song "Yes Man". Here he qualified for the final, where he finished fourth overall. Torun Eriksen
Torun Eriksen (born 8 January 1977 in Lunde, Telemark) is a Norwegian jazz singer, whose musical talents first came to prominence as a music student at high school in Norway. Eriksen was born in Lunde, Telemark. From the age of six, she sang in various gospel choirs, and by the age of 19 had become a featured soloist. With a background steeped in soul, jazz, pop, and through her choral experience she began writing her first compositions. A major influence was the world of jazz standards via the Real Book. After moving to Oslo in 1997, she enrolled at the Norwegian Institute for Stage and Studio. Pitsj (founded 1999 in Oslo, Norway) is a female Norwegians, Norwegian a cappella quintet. The band consists of Anine Kruse, Anine and Benedikte Shetelig Kruse, Benedikte Kruse, the twin sisters Ane Carmen Roggen, Ane Carmen and Ida Roggen, and Anja Eline Skybakmoen (who replaced Tora Augestad when she left Pitsj in 2007). Biography Pitsj released their first album, ''Pitsj'', on Grappa Records, in September 2006. Inger Johanne Jacobsen (13 October 1923 in Christiania – 21 July 1996 in Oslo) was a Norwegian singer and actress, known internationally for her participation in the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest.
