Kiyoshi Nishimura
Kiyoshi Nishimura (''Nishimura Kiyoshi'') (September 7, 1932 – November 17, 1993) was a Japanese filmmaker known for his hard-boiled action films and television series. Education During his student days at Tachikawa High School in Tokyo, Nishimura worked part-time at a U.S. military base in Tachikawa and became immersed in filmgoing. In 1956 he graduated from Hitotsubashi University, where he was a classmate of Shintaro Ishihara. Career He subsequently joined Toho and worked as an assistant director to Akira Kurosawa, Mikio Naruse, Ishirō Honda, Yuzō Kawashima, Hirokawa Horimichi, Yasuki Chiba, Eizō Sugawa, Kengo Furusawa and Hideo Onchi was a Japanese film and television director. Toshio Kurosawa
was a Japanese baseball outfielder who played eight seasons in the Japanese Baseball League from 1936 to 1947. His career was cut short due to typhoid fever, from which he died at age 33. Kurosawa's number 4 was retired by his last club, the Yomiuri Giants, the same year, and was among the first to be retired in all of Japanese baseball. Biography Amateur (High school and college) Born in Osaka Prefecture, Kurosawa played for Osaka Prefectural Yao High School. He appeared in the Spring and Summer Koshien high school baseball tournaments a total of 5 times. After matriculating to Kansai University, Kurosawa became a leading figure in the University club's golden era, batting fourth in the lineup. Hideo Onchi
was a Japanese film and television director. Career Born in Tokyo, Onchi graduated from Keio University and joined the Toho studios. He debuted as a director with '' Wakai ōkami'' (1961), and first made a name for himself directing youth films such as ''Izu no odoriko'' (1967). After turning freelance, he also worked in Japanese television, serving for instance as the main director for '' Kizu darake no tenshi'', an influential TV drama from the 1970s. Eizō Sugawa
was a Japanese filmmaker. Career Sugawa was born in Osaka to a family that owned an asbestos manufacturing business. He graduated from the economics department of Tokyo University in 1953, and subsequently joined Toho studios. He was inspired to enter the film industry after watching foreign films, which were imported into Japan in huge amounts following World War II. While working as an assistant director, he wrote a script titled ''Kiken na Eiyūtachi'' that was published in screenplay magazine Independent. Toho producer Masakatsu Kaneko was impressed with the script, which depicted an ambitious reporter involved in a kidnapping incident with a touch reminiscent of American films, and used it as the basis for ''Kiken na Eiyū'' (1957), directed by Hideo Suzuki and starring Shintarō Ishihara.
