Kissinger Institute On China And The United States
The Kissinger Institute on China and the United States is a non-profit research organization dedicated to promoting greater understanding of issues in the Sino-American relations, relationship between the People's Republic of China and the United States and its impact on both countries and the world. It was inaugurated in 2008 and is part of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Its current director is Robert Daly. Barbara Hackman Franklin (born March 19, 1940) is an American government official, corporate director, and business executive. She served as the 29th U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 1992–1993 to President George H. W. Bush, during which she led a presidential mission to China. Prior to her cabinet position, Franklin served in the presidential administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan. Robert Edward Rubin (born August 29, 1938) is an American retired banking executive, lawyer, and former government official. He served as the 70th United States Secretary of the Treasury during the Clinton administration. Before his government service, he spent 26 years at Goldman Sachs, eventually serving as a member of the board and co-chairman from 1990 to 1992. Rubin is credited as a major force behind Clinton-era economic prosperity, including the 1993 Deficit Reduction Act and Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
