Kirk Covington
Kirk Covington is a drummer best known for his work with the jazz fusion group Tribal Tech. Covington was born in Midland, Texas, where he attended the University of North Texas College of Music, where he met bassist Gary Willis, with whom he later joined Tribal Tech. Covington has performed or recorded with other musicians including Joe Zawinul, Robben Ford, Allan Holdsworth, Scott Henderson, and John Humphrey. Covington has toured since 1998 with Scott Henderson and bass player John Humphrey, as a trio. In 2003 they recorded ''Well to the Bone''. Tribal Tech
Tribal Tech was a progressive fusion band, originally formed in 1984 by guitarist Scott Henderson and bass player Gary Willis. From 1993 forward the band included Scott Kinsey on keyboard and Kirk Covington on drums, and released ten albums that stretched the borders between blues, jazz, and rock. The band dissolved following the release of 2000's ''Rocket Science'', with the various members pursuing solo careers. However, they re-formed to release another album, ''X'', in 2012. Jazz Fusion
Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. Volto! (often stylized VOLTO!) is an American rock jam band based in Los Angeles, California, United States. First formed in the early 2000s, the current band roster consists of Lance Morrison on bass, Danny Carey (Tool) on drums, Matt Rohde on keyboards, and John Ziegler on guitars. John Humphrey (bass Player)
John Michael Humphrey is a bass player who has toured with guitarist Scott Henderson since 1998, performing with drummer, Kirk Covington, as a trio. Together they recorded '' Well To The Bone'' in 2003. Humphrey has also been employed as a bass instructor at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Humphrey and Scott Henderson previously performed together in Jean-Luc Ponty's band during their "Fables" world tour in 1986. During the years of 1990 through 1995 Humphrey played bass for Carole King. He recorded with her on her 1992 album ''The Colour of Your Dreams'', and with her 1994 '' In Concert'', and he participated in the PBS video production ''Carole King, In Concert''. Scott Henderson
Scott Henderson (born August 26, 1954) is an American jazz fusion and blues guitarist best known for his work with the band Tribal Tech. Tribal Tech Henderson formed Tribal Tech with bass player Gary Willis in 1984. Under the direction of Henderson and Willis, Tribal Tech became one of the most highly regarded fusion bands of the 1980s. During the band's initial run until their dissolution following the 2000 album ''Rocket Science'', Henderson brought himself to the forefront of modern jazz/fusion guitar playing. In 1991 he was named '#1 Jazz Guitarist' by Guitar World magazine, and in January 1992 he was voted best jazz guitarist in Guitar Player magazine's Annual Reader's Poll.
