It covers part of the city of Kingston, Ontario and the sparsely populated Frontenac Islands in the St. Lawrence River. This is a list of past arrangements of Canada's electoral districts. Each district sends one member to the House of Commons of Canada. Edgar John "Ben" Benson , (May 28, 1923 – September 2, 2011) was a Canadian politician, businessman, diplomat, and university professor. He held four cabinet posts, most notably that of Minister of Finance under Pierre Trudeau, where he was instrumental in reforming Canada's income tax law. George Nicholas Speal
George Nicholas Speal, (1932 – December 27, 2008) was a lawyer and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He served as mayor of Kingston from 1973 to 1976. He was born in Kingston, the son of Greek immigrants, and was educated at Kingston Collegiate, Queen's University and Osgoode Hall Law School. Speal was called to the Ontario bar in 1958. In 1974, he was named Queen's Counsel. During his term as mayor, the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour was redeveloped to host sailing events for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the annual tradition of the Mayor's Levee at Kingston City Hall on New Year's Day was established. Flora MacDonald (Canadian Politician)
Flora Isabel MacDonald, (June 3, 1926 – July 26, 2015) was a Canadian politician and humanitarian. Canada's first female foreign minister, she was also one of the first women to vie for leadership of a major Canadian political party, the Progressive Conservatives. She became a close ally of Prime Minister Joe Clark, serving in his cabinet from 1979 to 1980, as well as in the cabinet of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney from 1984 to 1988. The writs of election for the 2011 election were issued by Governor General David Johnston on March 26.
