Kingston Secondary School
Kingston Secondary School (KSS) is a high school located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. After the closing of Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute, considered the oldest public secondary school in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada, students were phased into KSS. As of 2023, KSS accommodates 1,340 students, with approximately 240 being in middle school and 1,100 in secondary school. History Kingston Secondary School opened to students on December 15, 2020, merging students from the closed Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) and Queen Elizabeth Collegiate and Vocational Institute (QECVI). Construction of KSS began in 2017 after the demolition of QECVI that year. Kingston, Ontario
Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is located on the north-eastern end of Lake Ontario, at the beginning of the St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Cataraqui River (south end of the Rideau Canal). The city is midway between Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. Limestone District School Board (LDSB, known as English-language Public District School Board No. 27 prior to 1999) is an English public district school board encompassing a region that includes the City of Kingston and the counties of Frontenac and Lennox and Addington in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Kingston Collegiate And Vocational Institute
Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) was a secondary school in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1792 by Reverend John Stuart based upon a grant for secondary education in the colony of Upper Canada, it moved to its location at 235 Frontenac Street in 1892. It is considered the oldest public secondary school in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada. KCVI was Kingston's only public secondary school until the opening of Queen Elizabeth Collegiate and Vocational Institute (QECVI) in 1955 and Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI) in 1963. In 2012, KCVI was ranked by the Fraser Institute as the top performing school in the Limestone Board and in the top 10 per cent of public schools in Ontario. Queen Elizabeth Collegiate And Vocational Institute
Queen Elizabeth Collegiate and Vocational Institute (QECVI), or "QE", was a high school in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, from 1955 to 2016. It was located at 145 Kirkpatrick Street, Kingston, Ontario, K7K 2P4. History QECVI opened in 1955 and instituted a number of programs focusing on specific career paths. Thriving on the enrichment of the Focus Programs due in part to former principal, J.R. Mulville, the school remained opened after a long debate in 1989 that almost left the school merging with Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School. J.R. Mulville referred to the focus programs as "a prime example of new ways of delivering curricula in schools, as well as a better way of teaching math and English for kids that need a different approach to things."
